I dont entirely agree with you that loose Cargo pants looks terrible on men if the cargo pants are well made and also if the men are taller. There are good brands such as Brandit that makes great loose cargo pants such as pure vintage which has good fit.

Skinny cargo pants doesnt look any better on men in my opinion but that because i dont like slim fit and looks best with regular fit and loose fit but not too loose.
