[Traffic nightmare] NYC Ambulance stuck while on high priority call

Показать описание
A hospital based NYC ambulance is seen here responding to a high priority call in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. What you can see is the almost daily traffic situation at rush hour. I decided to cut the video short but in reality the ambulance took more than 10 minutes for just 3 blocks. You better not need help during these traffic conditions, otherwise you may have to wait forever.

NY needs to do something against this. This is unacceptable

Most of these videos are taken in Manhattan. The streets there are set up differently than in most other boroughs within the city. In all honesty, most people (including me) don't know what to do when they are completely stopped at a red light and there's an emergency vehicle stuck behind them trying to get through. So in most cases people just sit there and wait.

There is plenty of space to pull over and they simply do NOTHING! Horrible.

Why not First Responders on Motorcycles?
Every Bike would be faster through this traffic

At some point you might as well just shut your siren off. It's useless in traffic like this.

I'VE BEEN SCREAMING THIS FOR DECADES, UNTIL THE NYC MAJORS OFFICE IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE, BY NOT RED ZONING ALL MAIN STREETS, REMOVING NIKE LANES AND ONE WAYS, THIS WILL NEVER EASE, parking garages need to be mandatory on every main intersection or closest open lot, no exceptions

There is space, you have to roll your car as far to sides as possible. Parking lots, side walks. everything to get them through. You can only come to a total stand still when you are out of the way. Traffic lights don't matter, you always give in to emergency cars and slowly drive over red and make space?!

Is this NYC specific, or is this an US issue? In Germany the rescue driver would punch your ass out of the way with this level of incompetence. People manage to make place in tight 800 years old city streets better than this..

Ambulance spend 4 minutes just go through the one block. Is it happen commonly due to selfish traffic? Just interesting from Japan.

Give them a loud hi-lo siren and every car will move, trust me.

Start arresting people in batches, and towing their cars to an impound lot. The law requires that you yield to an emergency vehicle displaying lights and sounding sirens. You can't just sit there like a store dummy, and wait for "someone else" to act.

La ambulancia ha quedado literalmente atorada. Pues sí 👌, es una pesadilla de tráfico. ¡vaya putada¡. Es como para romper los nervios a cualquiera.

There's plenty of room for the cars to move over the ambulance have somewhere important to be unlike these cars if a person dies then it's going to be the cars fault and not just the cars the pedestrians in the way just shut off your siren is pointless in traffic like this and by the way if these people move out the goddamn way unacceptable can't even move for emergency vehicles
