I'm a judo green belt who recently started training no gi bjj, them leg locks are scary when you are not ready for them and don't have the tools to get out of them hahaha.

In many ways nogi has become a midway between bjj and CACC, both became leg lock oriented.

Sports can Specialize in one skillset but no professional military warrior / Soldier would do such a thing. It's better to be proficient in all skillsets than to specialize in only one, if the focus is life or death combat.

Yes, your conclusions on the evolving place of the leglock game are correct, distinguishing competition from self defence.

I believe in cross training judo, bjj, wrestling, you know my opinion about lost techniques, they sould all be tought so judoka and anyone can avoid them and know them, maybe some high injury risk techniques can be tought in higher belts so ppl know how to avoid injury first and are into the sportsmanship mentality. But all sould be tought, we don't need more specialized sports we just need one sport with specializations depending on the Talend and body type of the athlete.

The less you practice leg locks the more open you are to them, opportunity is the foundation of every submission, because there's always a counter and a counter to the counter etc...so it's always who makes the mistake that gets caught, hence the opportunity becomes available and I take advantage of it. every takedown, KO, sub etc...are opportunistic.

But I'm a wrestler turned MMA fighter, so I guess that we've discovered a defining difference between the philosophies of judo, wrestling and MMA.

Kosen judo uses leglocks to stall during team matches they just cant "lock it in" or submit with it.

Okay, I need to watch this video to hear everything you say but the leg lock is not missing from Judo. It was just banned from competition.
