Sometimes you need to sharpen your carving tools really quick but don't want to spend a ton of money. That's where you can use sandpaper instead! It's cheap and lasts a good long time for what you are paying for.

Been doing this for 20 years, plexyglass, double sided tape and wet & dry. Cool clip!

Great video for inexpensive sharpening! I've used sand paper for a long time for sharpening and it works very well. A while back I bought some self adhering wet/dry sand paper sheets and they're also excellent for making boards like this. I have no idea how much they cost, but they definitely weren't expensive. I mounted mine on a thick piece of glass from an old coffee/side table I found on Facebook Marketplace for free. This glass won't bend or warp, so it's great for anything you want or need to remain perfectly flat. I hope someone finds these little tips useful!

I am hoping that you can tell me what hook knife you use. It was in one of your videos. It has a # 7 on it.

I accidentally bought a sharpening stone thats intended for water instead of oil, but I don't have the work space to use water without making a mess every time I need to add more water to the stone, can you still add oil instead of water without that causing any issues to the sharpening process? Or are water sharpening stones inherently different to oil ones ?
