Floor Price vs. Actual Value in NFTs

Whoa, floor price, mint price, what the heck is something really worth? Let's dive deeper into the Floor Price and how it can be deceiving. If you dig the learning, leave me a comment and like.

Floor price is the lowest available to "buy now" at any given time.
That does NOT mean it is what the NFT is "worth" just that you can "buy now" at that available price.

For projects that are very popular, the floor price will sell regularly, but that does NOT guarantee anything.

Calculating value of an NFT is a bit more complicated than that, unfortunately, but it can be great fun.

Factoring in a project's sales activity, recent sales, and the floor price can be very helpful.

Also, knowing whether that project has limited amounts, 1 of 1 pieces, etc. Doing research can be boring for some, but it is the way to ensure that you profit in the space, if that is your goal.

You don't have to profit on every transaction, mind you, and this is NOT financial advice, just fun stuff with Nifties.

Thanks!

This explains a lot because I was seeing nfts for over 600 trillion and was very confused on how it's valued at that

Hey, thank you for the explanation! The price variation of items on OpenSea is still a bit confusing to me though. How is it possible for the price of an NFT to be at 0.2 ETH for example and other pieces of the same NFT collection to be worth 5 ETH? If the price of a collection increase altogether, is it possible for one item to depreciate in value or to just not increase in value?

New sub. You're doing great answering these fundamental questions. Would love to learn about any NFT communities (BAYC / Cool Cats, etc.) that you're into, specifically those with great communities. Also consider getting a green screen!

So what happens when a project's floor price at launch is low? I bought an NFT that looked like it had a lot of hype at 0.06 and now people are selling on opensea for less than the whitelist minting price, bringing the floor price down!!!

If the floor price goes up but the price of 1 ETH goes down does that make the NFT cheaper? Hypothetically, say 1 ETH = $1, 000 and the floor price is .5 ETH = $500. But say 1 ETH falls to $100 and the floor price goes to 1.5 ETH = $150. So, the floor price went up but 1 ETH went down so the floor price is actually cheaper even though it’s more ETH? Does that make sense? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, just subbed btw tho

Great video, but you need to sort out your sound - seems like you're tapping your mic. Very irritating, sorry to say.
