Insurance isn't about protecting policy holders - it's about protecting share holders

So they’re happy to take your money for years, and when it’s their time to pay up they vanish.

A friend of mine that has State Farm in New Jersey, had his kitchen flooded, and State Farm refused to pay for the damage because his mother originally paid for the floor with her credit card. They said it technically was not his floor. Now, if that is not them openly screwing their customer over, I do not know what it is.

Insurance isnt about paying out claims, its all about selling new policies.

I am a current home policy holder with farmers and I would like to inform you that my premium almost doubled for next year. They are lying to you when they say that it does not impact the current policy holders. It's a lie

Insurance companies only want to do business with you if there is no chance they will have to pay out.

"Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there!" Only if they can make money off you.

Insurance is a scam...while they make money off of you...but if the claim is reversed they find any loop hole to not pay out.

That would be awesome if the entire country boycotted them, and all the sudden they were crying for people's business and saying they were sorry. It's crazy how these corporations have turned into absolute monsters over the years.

If I paid into insurance for years, I lose my home and they refuse to pay. I'd actively work to help them understand what it feels like to loss everything.

I’m glad the people in the United States are starting to realize how terrible our government and these institutions/ agencies are. We need to actually start holding them accountable and not hoping they’ll just figure it out.

"It's getting too hard for us to rip people off so we're out of here." - insurance companies

Really? Proposition 103 requires insurance rates to adequate, fair, and not excessive. That is the way insurance rates are supposed to be. The major insurance companies have been playing these games for years. One major insurer had cut their rates below adequate levels in order to gain a market share advantage. When the catastrophes happened, they were in distress so they declared a moratorium on new policies and began nonrenewing policies. NBC should follow up with the California Department of Insurance.

Between this and the insurance companies leaving Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and considering leaving states like Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina, southern states are gonna have to reconsider alot of stuff about insurance, especially near the coast.

I live in California and I saw this state lose everything...housing unaffordable, homeless everywhere, crime is rising through the roof, the wealth gap is insane, but at least we had good weather, now we don't even have good weather anymore....there's not much here only delusions and grandeur
