I love the Clicky sound that comes with this "Opto-Mechanical" switch. Not as heavy as the Cherry MX Blue but also offer a not very loud clicky sound. I think this switch is the future.

These opto-mechanical switches are the future! Finally we will be able get rid of chattering for good. I hope more manufacturers start using this optical technology in their keyboards. I bet they can also be manufactured to "mimic" the feel of many different kinds of normal switches.

I don't buy the quicker response thing by the way but I also don't think it's slower also. I think the response of opto-mechanical switches and normal switches are almost the same. I don't think the difference would be greater than 1 milliseconds and the extra durability argument because of no contact is understandable but keycaps will be wrecked way before switch or optical sensors die anyway :)

Perhaps the only thing that affects the "age" of this keyboard won't be the number of "key presses" for each switch, but rather the number of "hours" this keyboard is used even tough you type on it or not. Because when this keyboard is active, the optical signal infrared emitter on each switch have to be working/emitting signals all the time. So if those infrared emitters have very long durability before they fail (say perhaps 20 to 100 years) than this keyboard is pretty much very durable really. And I think these purple switches are kind of hotswapable. They can be swapped without de-soldering and soldering because all the necessary electronics like emitter, sensor/receiver and the RGB LED are soldered on the PCB of the keyboard.

Ah what am I talking about ? I will most probably buy another good mechanical keyboard next year anyway. But I am sure that one will also have opto-mechanical switches :) Anyway... like I said: Finally we get rid of chatter for good.

That's pretty bad if the secondary functions aren't lit properly. For the price that you're paying, it's pretty bad that they don't even include a keycap puller or any decent accessories. How about a tool to clean the keyboard?

I guess all the money is placed into the extra RGB?
