NAMM 22: Glen Darcy - Ashun Sound Machines

Показать описание
The entire Hydrasynth range utilizes an advanced wavetable synthesis engine, 3 Oscillators, dual Wave Mutators and 2 filters that can be configured in series or parallel, giving extensive tone generating capabilities. All the keyboard versions of Hydrasynth come with the Polytouch keybed, even the extremely portable Hydrasynth Explorer.

Glen from Ashun explained the difficulties of production during lockdown and a chip shortage, but having the entire Hydrasynth family gathered at NAMM surely makes it all worth it.

They guy's name is Glen Darcey - with an e :) Just found out because I somehow knew that name from elsewhere and googled it...so, dont confuse Darcey the Synth maker with D'arcy the surfboard maker!

I think the question was: what’s coming up for ASM; new products in process?

Love my Hydrasynth Desktop. Shame they don't have anything new show this year, very curious where they go next, analog? Drum machine?

Mmmmh, that wasn’t a real teaser. Start to wonder if they really have something coming besides the current Hydra range and t-shirts in the variety XL, Desktop, Original and Explorer. Was hoping for a hint on a coming MPE capable midi sequencer/recorder. Now it turns out we’re just waiting for t-shirt to arrive? That’s kind of a bummer.

this first generation of the hydra family was brilliant. But i decided to wait for the next gen of ASM synths. I would get a 1st gen as a 1st synth, but somewhat redundant to what i have. so ok, not yet.

The guy loves and clearly has a deep understanding of "classic" and modern synthesis. (Though not evidenced from this WEAK interview) It will never happen, but my dream synth would be the poly aftertouch, endless rotaries, and digital control/effects of Hydrasynth with Studio Electronics CODE voice boards for the audio signal path. Use the no longer needed CPU power for a 16 lane sequencer.

depressed saying nothing ... still a fantastic synth

Was hoping that Glen would 'expand' on the "Company has to make new products" verbiage.. and then tell us nothing.. maybe that was the camera/MC's cue to ask for more about whats coming down the pike? Because everyone knows it's all about the Tee-Shirts. As far as information and such goes, this was a pretty weak interview.... sorry. Wasn't even "B-Roll" worthy.

That sucks that it is the only way for business to make new products, hope that would be a better way, like completely new synth firmware in same hardware platform
