Brilliant! Thanks for clarifying that difference, I would have thought the lock mode was the answer to all slippery situations if I didn't witness this video.

Snow mode makes a real difference. It makes me wonder how we ever got anywhere before clever electronics. Super impressed with the Vitara. Thanks for taking the time to record this.

Wow, first time I’m seeing real OBD data while doing a 4x4 traction test. Very good idea!

I have the same car 2022, but the hill to my house is more steep, maybe 35-40 degrees. It's 75 metres long. Does it make sense to use Snow Mode + Manual and drive only in first gear? I heard this advice in some videos. I just wanna teach my mother to climb it the safest way possible because she doesn't have the courage to drive in winter because of this hill.

Looking to replace my aging 2004 RAV4 2.0vvti 150ps 5sp 4wd with a Vitara when it finally goes. I have been in a lot of snow and ice forest trails with my RAV in Austria and Germany, it has always done very well (never stuck). I guess the Visco coupling on these older RAV 4's was pretty good. I like the switchable 4wd modes on the Suzuki however, more control it would seem.

I confirm with my sx4 s-cross (the sister of the vitara 2020) that lock mode is not a miraculous mode on snowy roads. It's more like an advanced mode for experienced drivers. I had way more luck with snow mode too.

So they got the switches wrong? Looks like snow should be called lock!

On the ice ground snow mode is better (especially on starting) because its make gas reaction slow.

No i to jest najlepszy i najbardziej wiarygodny test :) niestety takie krecenie na rolkach to można przedszkolakom pokazywać jak kółka się kręcą

Always thought that Lock mode is the best, but after seeing this video I was using Snow mode and on snow/ice roads is the best. Amazing how it catches the grip. What do you think what mode is the best for recovery from deep snow? And do you prefer manual or auto gearbox in deep snow/light offroad situations? I have Vitara 1.6 DDiS AllGrip 2017 manual, and first gear is too long. I burned the clutch to get unstuck from deep snow, not literally but it smelled.

wow!! I would have never thought snow would work better than lock. I wonder how the older model SX4 would fair. Thanks for posting.

Does it good handling on snow road while you driving what’s like 50/60 km/h ?

Is it different if LOCK is selected when Snow mode is active?

Is traction control On or Off? That would make a big difference.

That's probably why you have to put snow mode on before you can use locked mode. I live in Australia so only need snow mode for the beach and trails. Never needed the full lock yet or got stuck. Only six months old but loving this Vitara.
