This DIY datalogger shield is a part of an Instructable on how to make it:

In this video demo, an example of how a hall effect sensor can be used to track when a door is opened and closed while the date and time from a DS1307 real time clock (RTC) is logged on a microSD card.

Demos 3 & 4 involve the data logging shield with radiofrequency (nRF24L01) telemetry.

Hi, might you be willing to help me build something like this? i just need to make it for a friend and i happen to have the materials i think. i learned a lot from this video but its just outside of my knowledge level. really nice video and good explaination!
