The movie accomplished the desired effect of leaving you feel broken inside. Cinematic perfection.

Allowing little Jenny to kill the father would have resulted in the audience feeling that Jenny had accomplished some kind of equalization for the crime done to her, and therefore no longer feeling sad & sorry for her (because she became John Wayne and defeated the bad guy). The editor made the correct choice.

They still didn’t left her of the hook since she broke his heart

She loved Forrest, but she had so many demons. I don't think she wanted to hurt him, so she kept running away. While running, she was just trying to cope with memories of years of all kinds of terrible abuse. I can't even imagine her pain. She was just a kid, and was being treated like an animal, used and abused. It's either kill or be killed. It's survival, and I don't hate her at all. I felt so deeply for her hearing her praying to be a bird to fly far away. I relate to that. I love the hurt girl in her.

I think that was the right thing to do. It definitely would’ve changed things and the audience would be left wondering if she might snap and kill Forest or their son. Excellent film. One of my faves. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Even though it's sad that people still dump all over jenny, it feels like we watched different movies, I swear. I'm glad they didn't put that in the movie, I think for the tone, it would have been too dark. I like that she was just taken away and sent to be with her grandmother.

Jenny was such a lost soul, my heart just broke for her.

People are so mean. Should be sympathetic to Jenny either way. Some people can't empathize. It's crazy. As a child, I felt so bad for Jenny. She simply was trying not to hurt her only friend because she felt like garbage. Most guys would've moved on and married someone else.

Some of y'all will just never understand she was abused in all the ways as a child, and her one friend that she did love she felt like she didn't deserve his love because she didn't love herself how hard is that for y'all to understand. 😢 She had a heal herself first and she went back to Forrest

I personally wouldn’t have cared at all if they showed that … it would be a completely different movie however, someone who does that to children doesn’t deserve to breath the same air as the rest of the people who agree is absolutely abhorrent, disgusting and repulsive to sexual assault anyone, ESPECIALLY a child.

They wanted the audience to feel sympathetic to Jenny yet still a lot of people hate Jenny. Not for her killing her dad, but apparently for how she treated Forrest.

I have had if not arguments a very intense disagreement on Jenny and her treatment of Forrest as adults. She never mistreated him, she never seeked him out he always searched and found her and always showed up in her adult life. She hated herself and loved him. He unconditionally loved her no matter what! Every time he showed up she always acknowledged him and treated him as good as she could in that moment. She was on self destruction and he kept interfering because he is who he is ! I argued with even my own son about her! It’s not like she would find him and bleed him dry of money and she could have over and over again but she didn’t. And when she finally got in contact with him. When she actually persuaded him she married him and gave him a child. Which shows she loved him and didn’t get an abortion and gave him the most beautiful precious thoughtful gift a human can give another human. She made sure he was never to be alone and someone who is apart of her his only true love. And she stayed until she died. I love her character and relate a lot to her self destruction

Janie got a Gun... maybe the audience wouldn't have lost 'sympathy'. Maybe the producers couldn't condone the truth of it, and then we'd have fathers, uncles, and grandpas disappearing across the country. If you think that's too dark, it's much darker that ALL of those men do it to ALL their relatives.

I hope Jenny killing her father is canon, even though it's not shown. I think that would be awesome.

I heard in the original script Forrest Gump flies away like super man

I think I'd have prefered that scene to be in it. Jenny had a horrenous childhood and Forrest, despite being mentally disabled, had a great childhood and life.
