So, I Finally Watched THE PENGUIN...

I figured THE PENGUIN would be more fun to binge, so binge I did....Here are my thoughts on the HBO limited series THE PENGUIN!

Finally a show the kept the villain the VILLAIN and didn’t try to make him some sympathetic”anti-hero”.

I just realized his mom made him promise he would let her die if she couldn’t take care of her self and anymore and he didn’t fulfill that promise. A cold piece.

What made Vic's death truly villainous wasn't just his lack of remorse after killing him but digging through is wallet right after, pocketing the few dollars he had, and tossing his ID into the water so Vic cannot be identified and linked back to him. Keeping a villain character a villain in the end; what a novel idea.

"This town deserves a better class of criminal and im gonna give it to em." I really liked how this showed why Batman's rogues rule the underworld. They truly are insane and will do anything to achieve their goals.

We all became vic, sympathized with penguin, want him to succeed but in the end met with betrayal and death. The story telling is on another level

The ending was just a chef’s kiss on the penguin’s character and how truly he was both the protagonist and the villain absolute 10/10

It’s not that he only killed Victor in cold blood, he did it after comforting him at his lowest and saving his life multiple times! Then he takes his wallet so no one can identity him.

I love how this show constantly gives you new bits and pieces of information that recontextualize what you've already seen. We think that Oz is a guy who looks out for the underdogs because that's how he wants to be seen and probably what he believes himself. By the end of Episode 8 we know he's got a twisted view of reality, is probably psychotic and most definitely only looks after himself. Great villain. I feel bad for Sophia though.

One of the best character moments is when Vic kills squid and Oz shows genuine concern and advice.
