Brexit did not happen immediately after the Brexit referendum in 2016. There were exhausting negotiations between the UK and the EU first about the exit of the UK and then about the future relationship between the EU and the UK.
After the official Brexit on January 31st in 2020, where the UK officially left the EU and with it the Parliament, there was a transitional period until December 31st in 2020 to implement the new relationship.
There are some longer transitional periods for some areas, but this was the main one.
People are talking a lot about the level of preparation for Brexit on different sides or the lack of.

Imagine an economist claiming that Germany raising traid barriers against itself would be good for Germany's trade? 🤔 Yet another economist proves that economics is less science and more politicised maths!

Let me assure you that Britain is a poor model. Our economy is on its arse (excuse the technical term). The reason? Inequality caused by a cocktail of neoliberal greed supported by financialisation.

Given that BMW has just announced they will be concentrating on hydrogen cars no longer electric, that they have mastered the technology and that these will roll off the production line in 2028, it would appear that the news that Germany seriously considers its own 'Brexit freedoms' is perhaps British wishful thinking. Added to which the first part of the headline 'EU humiliated'. Now who on earth would wish to see EU humiliated I wonder? Might it be those who have themselves experienced their own humiliation, having brexited without the slightest idea how to move forward afterwards? Why was it necessary to add this rider in the first place? Is this a story thriving in the new so called free speech environment, where anything goes and nothing gets scrutinised, providing it is hard right leaning?

The British economy has not yet recovered from the pandemic, it is stagnant and the new government is struggling to get it moving. Diversification is essential to keep an economy strong, Germany has, in the past, proved itself more than able to adjust to economic realities as they appear. I'm not sure Germany has anything to learn from Britain apart from don't be so stupid as to impose economic sanctions on yourself.

I imagine the German education system will adjust to prepare its population accordingly - whatever strategy Germany decides upon. The important thing is that it won't be "chaos" driven and done on a "wing and a prayer" like Brexit was, and still is... 🤔

Well I am "just" part German, but I would just ask "warum?". Funny video Marc, thanks for making me smile in an odd day (no irony intended my friend, I really liked this video).

Can anyone explain the economical logic behold the assumption; that putting up a trade barrier between oneself and one's biggest market, can be assumed by some academic-institution, as a way to growth? Some would say, that such reports, are just a whitewash of the painful facts; that brexit doesn't work.

Damage triggers damage control, but this not necessarily is an argument for self-inflicted damage.

Maybe one should concentrate more on development and less on growth.

The anthropomorphization of countries or politic blocs for having 'feelings' is just stupid.

For every euro Germany sends to EU, Germany receives 12 euros..., it would be the most stupidiest idea, Germany leaves EU, when we saw what happened to UK...

So, where does this idea come from?
Why emulate failure?
You still got that damnfool austerity?
