Canada might have some of the worst grocery prices in the world right now. It's a legitimate problem and people need to be held accountable. This boycott is the bare minimum we can do.

I don't buy any of my meats from grocery stores. I go to St. Lawrence Market, ground beef is often $6.45 a pound, 2 large chicken legs $2.75, stewing beef is less than 1/2 the price. I advise anyone to go there, its worth the effort.

I have no problem using my local Grande Cheese and Dollarama for the rest of the month.

Sobeys, don't forget about Sobeys! Their price is even worse, we should boycott them both even after May until they reduce their price to acceptable level. Also all the money they scammed off customers should be forced to put back into the communities to improve infrastructures and to help the poor. Greed chains should have no place in Canada.

It's not only the high food prices, it's how the Weston's exploit workers and with the help of Employment Ontario. Taxpayer and corporate donors, through my office, for example, pay the Weston family to hire our clients. Often, once the subsidy is over, our clients are let go or their hours are cut from 24 to 10/15 per week. Canadian Tire and Tim Horton's are just as bad as the Westons. They have no business receiving money to hire people especially with record profits during and since COVID. All of our clients who work for Shoppers Drug Mart complain to me because they only get part-time hours. And I have on means to remedy that. And what about the Meds Check scandal?! How is that even legal? Billing us $75 for bogus calls, to meet manager targets? The Westons get away with EVERYTHING. And people here are too complacent.

What you would have to compare to is a year ago, the big increases started nearly 2 years ago. Some things just doubled, they didn’t go up by a little at a time, it was big jumps. I’m a senior and my groceries doubled in the last 2 years and I can’t even afford a lot of things I used to buy.

My family used to own a dental laboratory at the 55 Eglinton Ave. East building. The building will soon be demolished to build a condo. I have very fond memories of the Yonge and Eglinton area, and it has changed so much since I've last visited there. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Mr Weston gave himself a million dollar raise last yr. His officers below him got almost just as high increases last yr too, like $900, 000+. Think of all the people that starving with next to little food every day.

So when are the Sobey's, Metro, Adonis, Highland Farms, Whole Foods, Longos, and Starsky boycotts? They're all more expensive than Loblaws.

Good video. I don't think the boycott will do anything but it's at least s good symbolic gesture. But if I'm going to boycott Loblaws, I'm not going to replace it with Amazon! 😅

Opening a small grocery store in Canada required too many permits meant as gatekeeping to keep the monopoly strong. What else would happen? Competition Bureau Canada released this report last year clearly mentioning this issue which went unnoticed.

Loblaws' shareholders got a 14% increase on their dividends yesterday ... where do we think that came from??? I have been boycotting this chain and its partner shops (eg. Shoppers Drug Mart, No Frills) for about 3 months now. Trying to go local as much as possible.

I agree. I am going to different stores that aren't connected to the Loblaws chain. There's a reason that their bosses have never been more wealthy as they are now. We do it long enough.. it'll be like Budd Light :) They could be at our mercy!! Who's the real boss? We are!! We choose.

Can people just stop looking at their smartphones when they are crossing the crosswalk? Smartphones are smart but people are losing their common sense. aka not so smart!

This is a unique video. Enjoyed this. Grocery prices are out of control. Don't know if the boycott will have any effect, but it's worth trying.

Carbon tax is main culprit. This is to deflect away from Trudeau. The groceries are expensive everywhere.
