I’m adding “Cold Enough for Snow, ” “An Unnecessary Woman, ” and “Mrs. March” to my list. Thank you. And I appreciated your Kate Bush moment.

I loved Wuthering Heights, The Remains of the Day, and Drive your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. Wonderful recs!
I also agree that fall invites an interest in reading classics. Hadn’t thought about it until you mentioned it!
Have not read Edgar Allen Poe but he seems right up my alley!

So many wonderful picks! Cold Enough for Snow is high on my list to read. The Howards End/On Beauty combination is perfect for autumn reading, as is The Sense of an Ending. I've got An Unnecessary Woman on my shelf and should move the up the list to read soon.

I've checked out Cold Enough for Snow from the lib on 2 different occasions & never got around to reading it! -.- I'm gonna add it to my winter tbr, if I don't get to it in the fall! I've also been so curious about classics lately!!! Gonna try to finally read Wuthering Heights and/or Age of Innocence soon!

I freakin’ love Mrs. March I listened to the audiobook on a cozy dreary rainy day and it was just simply blissful ✨✨✨

such lovely picks! loved that you went for both cozy and lonely reads.

you most definitely need to get to Pilgrim at Tinker Creek! best saved if the chill is biting with a bit of morning dew to a blue morning 💙

As soon as you said "British restraint" I knew it'd be an Ishiguro 😆

Oooh An Unnecessary Woman is now on my list. And so is that Barnes. I own it, so I’ve pulled it out now.

I just finished An Unnecessary Woman - so, so, so good. 🥰 I want to get to Cold Enough for Snow soon - maybe November, my October list is pretty full - mostly of spooky-adjacent stuff, Pedro Paramo, Bad Cree, The Route of Ice and Salt, Goblin Market, and Whisper by Chang Yu-Ko.

However that was that you correctly pronounced Mallarme's name, I never even got close to it 😸😆 Thanks for the good words about "Death in Her Hands, " it gets too much hate from people who just don't seem to get it. Only thing is, it is set in spring, but many readers have no seasonal concerns. Poe would seem to be a necessity at this time of year but a lot of people don't seem to get THAT either and there are political considerations that make it "dangerous" to recommend him, so thanks again. I also like Tokarczuk although she is a handful to read 👍

Didn’t care for Cold enough for snow. Snow, dog, foot by Claudio Morandini is so much better. An unnecessary woman is on my kindle but haven’t read it yet.
