Lemon Juice Invisible Ink (Chemistry)

▶️ How to make lemon juice invisible ink:
Step 1: Start with one large lemon cut it in half and then squeeze the juice into a small container.

Step 2: Take either a Q-tip or a small paintbrush and dab some lemon juice onto the end. Use this to write your secret message on a piece of paper or cardstock.

Step 3: Watch as it dries almost completely invisible.

Step 4: Now it's time to reveal your secret message. Take a clothing iron and turn it on high.

Step 5: Slowly glide the iron across the piece of paper, making sure not to leave it long enough to catch the paper on fire. Areas painted with lemon juice will become a dark brown color revealing your secret message.

▶️ How lemon juice invisible ink works:
The reason this works is that the lemon juice actually undergoes an oxidation reaction at a lower temperature than the paper turning a dark brown and revealing your message. Now, if you don't have access to freshly squeezed lemon, don't worry—you can also use dehydrated lemon juice powder it works just about as well! And there you have it—how to make invisible ink using lemon juice.
