Brad Whitford of Aerosmith opens up his personal collection of Gibson guitars with Mark Agnesi and talks about his first-ever Gibson Les Paul.

If we were to ask you to name one of your favorite US rock bands from the last 50 years, odds are Aerosmith would be at the top of your list. The band has earned over twenty top 40 singles, 4 Grammys, and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Guitarist Brad Whitford has been there since the beginning and has some pretty cool Toys in the Attic to show for it.

Join host Mark Agnesi as he talks musical beginnings, inspiration, and of course, guitars with Brad in this episode of “The Collection.”

The guitars are cool - but to see Brad as he ages is just warms my heart. This humble rock star helped make some of the best music in the history of humans. This video is such a gift.

The man who wrote the grooviest Aerosmith riff of all time, "Last Child." LOVE IT.

Brad is one of the most under-rated guitarists. I saw Aerosmith a couple of times in the late 80s, and he was brilliant.

After meeting him backstage once, the guy was such a music fan that all he did was listen to a new guitarist he hadn’t heard and payed so much attention to it you almost couldn’t distract him. Such a loving and humble guy. Can’t thank him enough for being unbelievably kind.

This is tremendous! Aerosmith is the reason I got into playing guitar. For so long I wanted to be Joe Perry, but as I got older and farther into my guitar journey, I realized how much of that guitar work was Brad’s and I quickly decided I wanted to be Brad. So underrated and such a weapon!

Gibson should be commended for featuring their competitors guitars along with their own. You don't see this from other brands. People in guitar forums are always praising one brand and bashing their competitor. It's content like this that should show to everyone that a cool guitar is a cool guitar, doesn't matter the brand.

Got to hang out with Brad about 10 years ago in Boston...aside from being one of the most underrated guitarists on the planet, he is also one of the nicest people I've ever met. A true gentleman. Humble and kind.

Brad is great. My first concert was Aerosmith 12 31 89 at the Old Boston Garden. Met Brad at NAMM and he signed the backplate to my explorer

I got to hang out with Brad and Derek St Holmes at a PRS private party at a NAMM show. They both were so cool and kind to this dorky Uber fan. Brad answered all my fan boy questions regarding what he used on certain Aerosmith tracks, without being the least bit condescending. A big influence and a great guy.

The Collection: "Angus Young"
Would be amazing, especially seeing his first SG with all the road wear from the early days in the band. That specific guitar is a piece of history and should be documented!

I have seen Aerosmith live more times than I've seen any other band. 9 times through out the years I've made a journey somewhere to see them. And I've seen so many good bands open for Aerosmith it's crazy. One of the best shows I've ever seen period was when they opened up the Pump tour in Charleston WV. A legendary band. And Brad Whitford is the backbone. He plays precise. He's very very good live & he nails it everytime. He's so underrated & I appreciate Mark & Gibson for giving him the respect he deserves.

Thank you so much Gibson. It is amazing how much both recorded and live music Brad has given us. Brad is such a great guitarist. I saw Aerosmith with Motley Crue in 2006 at the Hollywood Bowl and can still remember Brad shredding on the guitar throughout the whole show. Not one mistake.

I met Brad when i was 19 yo when he was playing with Joe in the Project.i was in awe as he spent some time talking to me a nobody. I am now 59yo and have met him many times since then. He has always been an awesome guy, always super nice. I always bring up his time with Rex Smith as nobody really knows about that.its a running joke when i ask him about that and when he did his last tour with Derek even Derek was laughing. Brad is the best!

Thanks for showing us your stuff Brad. One of my all time favorite bands, I got an Aerosmith "ROCKS" in 8 Track Tape and a little stereo for Christmas, I played it until it was worn out.
