How do you keep insects on your hand without it immediately flying away?

I love hoverflies so much! I often befriend them. First I wag a finger to let them follow it, know I’m friendly and whatnot, then they land on me. They’ll stick around for 15+ minutes before flying off to find food

I love hoverflies!! I have them in my garden and they always land on my finger and chill for like 10 minutes.

Hoverflies frequently are nectar feeders but they do have some flies that look a lot like them and they have a bite like a freaking greenhead horse fly. But those type of hoverflies are looking to feed on other insects but like I said if you pick one of them up and it feels threatened it'll sink it'll sink it's a little stinger that it's got its mouth parts right into it and it's got some venom so you'll feel it

I had 5 to 6 of these one time hang around me one time. First it started as one, he was chilling with me for a few minutes, then flew off. Not even 5 minutes later, the friends came along to say hi. Coolest fly to encounter if you're lucky to meet one.

Wow those are huge, the ones we have in Brazil are pretty tiny, smaller than a honeybee

Alright, these hover flies are mostly called an imposter wasp/bee, if you can't tell the difference between a hoverfly and a wasp, beginner tips are, you closely look at the count of paired wings, or maybe if it doesn't have a Stinger or not.

Hoverflies are cute. One time I was walking around suburban London with my mom when a hoverfly started flying around her. She thought it was a yellowjacket. I had to tell her to relax, that it was just a harmless fly.

I have loads of them in my garden, almost everytime i lay or sit down in the grass about 2-3 land on me everytime
