Just watched Spellbound on Netflix, and it deeply resonated with me. Growing up in a broken family, I could relate to Ellian’s journey of navigating pain, anger, and acceptance while trying to mend what seemed irreparable. For those parents who no longer love each other, remember: your choices and actions still teach your children about love, respect, and resilience. It also reminded me how anger, if not addressed, can become a barrier to healing. Acceptance isn’t easy, but it’s a powerful step toward finding peace. Spellbound was more than a magical tale—it’s a reflection on love, forgiveness, and the courage to move forward.
The film explores profound themes, such as family dynamics and the emotional impact of divorce, through a fantastical and heartfelt lens. It highlights Ellian's journey of self-discovery as she tries to reconcile her family and heal the kingdom. I'm finding it relatable, it might be because of its exploration of family struggles, misunderstandings, or reconciliation. The story captures the emotions and complexity of dealing with strained relationships in a way that feels magical yet deeply human. It's no wonder it strikes a chord with many viewers. Not only that, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a depiction of a divorce and a kids movie before it also shows kids that yeah two people can get divorced but still keep a healthy relationship

Despite all of this, a part of me really thought that there was a sign of treason against the King and Queen. I thought someone followed them to the dark forest and put the spell on them intentionally and get rid of the princess after that is finished. I believed that it was the captain of the guard.

So many children live through this and they know friends going through this at school. There’s no reason we should keep kids in the dark about this reality. Ironically vilifying divorce has led to adults avoiding marriage altogether. Can’t get divorced if you don’t get married at all! It’s too risky. Am I right? I understand if you don’t want very young children to watch this but this is perfectly fine for older children and teens who are going to find out eventually either through cousins or friends at school.

Family is not always there for you. My Dad died and my Mom has abandoned me. She literally told me that it would be my Christmas present to her if I didn't come at Christmas. When I went to her crying because I missed my Dad, she said, "You may have lost a Father, but I lost a husband." I have "Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy" aka "Broken Heart Syndrome" which is supposed to be temporary, but my heart still skips beats and it has been years. I have PTSD and I am agoraphobic. I used to be a straight A student and athletic and now I am a mess. I just needed my Mom to love me and was completely unaware she didn't until Dad died. My own Mother that I love and trusted betrayed me and I don't even know what I did to deserve it. I don't even know how a Mother cannot love her own child. She literally destroyed my life, when she is supposed to protect me and be there for me. I am still in shock.
