As a volunteer distributor in Somerset, I agree with the man from Stroud that the previously rabid opposition seems to have mellowed recently. We get far more compliments than criticism now and some people seek us out for each new issue. We hand out papers on the street, but also deliver to shops, supermarkets, garage forecourts, car boot sales, anywhere where it can be seen and picked up. Some recipients have started distributing in their own home areas. We are always courteous, unlike our critics who regularly tell us we are far right, nazi, homophobic, transphobic, antisemitic, etc, etc. One asked if I was a mysoginist, I said I'd have to ask my

When I first started distributing The Light, more than three years ago, it used to take an hour or so to give out 50 copies. Today 200 copies go in an hour. There is a growing hunger among the general public for another viewpoint on what is important and not what is set for them by the BBC and mainstream media. When ever say "Stories you won't get from the BBC", people invariably smile and take a copy. When asked what it is I tell them its independent, people funded, has no crosswords, no sport, no TV listings, show business and gossip about celebrities or Page three girls, just good journalism". They always take one after that. We'll also have good conversations with local people about a range of issues. Extreme left wingers say The Light is antisemitic but when asked, are unable to provide any evidence to support their claim. I've read every copy and never read anything antisemitic in it. Next they'll be claiming The Light is racist.
