DAL -
Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
Chana Dal - 3 tbsp
Masoor Dal - 2 tbsp
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Cumin - 1 tsp
Ginger - 1 inch (chopped)
Green Chili - 2 nos.
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Water
RECIPE -
- Soak all the Dals for at least 30 mins.
- Then in a cooker add ghee along with cumin, ginger and green chilies.
- Saute them and once fragrant add all the dals.
- To that add Turmeric, Salt and water.
- The Water should be an inch above the dal
- Close the cooker and let them cook on medium heat for 2-3 whistles.
- After that turn off the flame and let the cooker depressurize.
- Check if the dal is cooked, if not then place it back on the heat and cook for another 5 mins and add a touch of water.
TADKA
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1 nos. (chopped)
Tomato - 2 nos. (chopped)
Ginger - 1 inch (chopped)
Garlic - 1 tbsp (chopped)
Green Chilies - 2 nos.
Whole Red Chilies - 2-3 nos.
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri Mirch - 2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1tsp
Salt to taste
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Aamchur Powder - 1/2 tsp
Kasuri Methi a pinch
Lime Juice - 1 tsp
Dhaniya chopped to garnish
RECIPE -
- In a Kadai add ghee along with onion, ginger, garlic, green chili, and Whole Red chilies.
- Once everything softens and light golden brown add the chopped tomatoes.
- Cook them until the tomatoes get soft and mushy.
- To that add Turmeric, Coriander Powder, Kashmiri Mirch, Aamchur Powder and Salt.
- Cook the masalas for a minute, so the rawness is removed.
- Then add the dal, mix it well and check for seasoning.
- If the Dal is too thick add some water to get the right consistency.
- After that add your cooked rice and mix it well.
- Lastly add kasuri methi, lime juice and freshly chopped Coriander.
- Now in a small tadka pan add 2-3 nos. of garlic (chopped), a pinch of hing, 2 whole red chilies and kashmiri Mirch.
- Cook it for 40-60 sec and once it starts to sizzle add it on top of the khichdi.
- And that's done!! Also enjoy the khichdi while its hot !!
