The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Rap/Song Teaching Video

I am a high school teacher who enjoys music. I have always thought Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" (1845) would make a great rap - there's even that line: "as of someone gently rapping/rapping at my chamber door" - so I finally tried it myself. I hope you enjoy! Accompaniment by Rujay.

You are a GODDESS ENGLISH TEACHER!! As a veteran teacher of far too many years of high school English, I celebrate you! I memorized this poem with a friend (in total nerdiness) when in the 7th grade, and you have brought me more joy than I feel when shocking my students with impromptu renditions of the first four stanzas. I have a 43-year long university teaching career and for the last 30 years of my teaching career in both my undergraduate and graduate school programs, I introduced students to my own rap version of the poem, because I thought it was a good way to teach English poetic rhythm. Your performance is stunning, better than anything I was able to come up with in my own university teaching career. I strongly recommend your work to others.

This is superb, magnificent, one of my fave readings of this poem, ever! This is no minor achievement -- your diction alone is amazing because it can be easy to trip over Poe's lengthy, complex verses.
