You should do a video with your super Raspberry Pi or Rock Pi build running ESXI and check the performance of the VMs.

Also this made my night, thanks for covering it so well as you always do.

Would be more interesting to boot windows on arm, raspbian and android instead of three linux distros if possible.

I tried ESXi on Raspberry Pi 4 and also experimented with USB passthrough, which seemed to work OK (virtual USB 3.0 controller passed through to a Ubuntu VM).

Now I just saw that the RPI Compute Module 4 has now arrived, and the IO board has... wait for it... a PCI Express x1 slot!

I wonder whether ESXi on ARM can be made to support PCI passthrough.

Hasn't Xen supported ARM for a while?

For the power of a Pi, I feel like you really would just need docker. Full virtualization is pretty heavy, and although the pi 4 is pretty beefy it's no server chip.

Gary, thank you for the great videos! Would be nice if you could do more videos with ESXi on ARM and go a bit more into details. For example: Is it possible to create clusters out of some Raspi hosts, using HA option, moving a bare-metal-installation of RaspiOS into virtualization, etc. Or about open alternatives to proprietary ESXi (Proxmox?). Keep up the good work!

Does Win on Arm run better via ESXi as there might be some decend default driver / integrations?

A very nice trick, considering they could be put into different real VLANs on the same switch.
