Hi Steve,
Two things.. 'How did I miss that putt'.. put the video on 0.25 speed in the settings below the video .. stop the video at address of the putt and see how the bill of your visor is not visible at address.. then jog shuttle the putter away from the ball in the backswing and notice how the bill of your visor is still not visible.. then.. jog shuttle very incrementally forward to impact and you will see the bill of your visor come ever so slightly into view.
That means you moved your lost your ' vision lock ' on the ball before impact .. in simple terms.. you 'moved' your head..
Why did that happen .. go through the same procedure with your practice putt and watch the bill of your visor move towards the hole in the practice putt..
So what am I saying.. you actually 'programmed' that movement of the head and loss of Vision Lock' .. in the practice swing... and when you 'program' something in the putting stroke in the practice putt.. it invariably is repeated in the actual putting stroke... just call me Sherlock Holmes.. but really the brain will only do what it's programmed to do .. especially in a golf swing .. or putting stroke.
Now the other thing.. you don't know if Doug Sanders was a good bunker player .. have a look at the shot he played out of the bunker on the 17th hole at St Andrews in the British Open in 1970.. I think it is the greatest bunker shot ever played in championship golf.
A couple of days after the Open .. a number of journalists got permission to try that bunker shot Sanders Played.. they each got one shot.. none of them got within 20 ft of the hole.. and sanders did it under the most pressure a Golfer could experience.. to answer your query about Sanders bunker play capability.. probably one of the top 3 who ever played the game.. where the pin was on that hole was an impossible position to get within the 3 ft he managed to get.. I still rate it the greatest bunker shot in championship golf .. .
