Massive Backlash Hits Sony Online And Nintendo Issues A Strange Warning | News Wave

After more leaks came out from Sony's next big release, the internet reacted with a ton of backlash around Last of Us Part 1. Later that night Sony even responded with a video. Nintendo issued a strange warning the other day for an accessory that no one was really using.

After Mafia: The Definitive Edition set the bar by launching for just under $40 it' hard to justify a full priced remake of an already made game and especially one that was recently remastered and the remaster still looks really good. Not worth it in my opinion. Btw, the work that went into Mafia: The Definitive Edition is mind blowing, I believe they also had to recast some of the roles(voice acting)do motion capture for the first time etc. Yet, it was sold for under $40 new. No way TLOU Remake gets away with a full price tag.

Naughty Dog doesn't care. They just want a "new" game out in time for the TV show when millions of new people are introduced to the Last of Us and of course they're going to charge $70 for it.

I can’t personally speak for others but I know the biggest thing turning me off from purchasing The Last of Us Part 1 remake is the fact that I don’t feel the updated features or graphics are worth spending $70, and I’d still feel the same way if it was a $50 or $60 title. The Death Stranding $10 upgrade path to get the Director’s Cut with improved graphics and an improved frame rate felt like the perfect price imo and while I understand The Last of Us Part 1 is a full on remake, I think just offering an upgrade to the PS4 remake would’ve been a better idea for Naughty Dog rather than remaking the same game again 8 years later

I own The Last of Us on PS3 and PS4, and I would have enjoyed an updated PS5 version. But, if Naughty Dog thinks I'm dropping $70 on this, they need to put down the crack pipe and rethink their policies.

My friend bought me one those usb WiFi sticks for my birthday when we were in elementary school. He got me it because my parents wouldn’t give me the WiFi password to play online with him and the stick skipped needing a password to connect. I don’t use it anymore but it has a fond memory of a great friend I used to have. 😌

With the last of us, it was a must play on the PS3, a year later it was remastered for the PS4 and was a must play, now 9 years after the original release, most people have played the game, if it was a remake and was this big change, they could have held it for next year as a 10 year anniversary title, but as it is, I think most people are happy with the PS4 version of the game, this is probably to catch PS5 owners for when they watch the show.

This feels like the same exact situation to mario and luigi bowsers inside story getting a 3DS remake even though you could already play the DS game on the 3DS... I don't know how interesting this is for anyone seeing how that one turned out

"LiveALive is too Grindy at the end" Did they ever play any JRPGs from that Era? They were basically grind fests with amazing story backdrops. To me its all a part of the charm. I hope they do more 2d 3d remakes.

Last of Us 1 seems more and more like a test to determine with what Sony could get away in regards to the 70 bucks pricetag

I think we are witnessing The Last of Us fatigue. They should have taken a Nintendo approach on this game and sit on it for a couple of years.

I almost have to admire Atlus’ audacity to so casually ask PS5 owners to buy Persona 5 again if they want the updated version. It’s hilariously cringy and gives me a good chuckle when I see it reported on. Who says game publishers don’t have a sense of humor?!

I feel like none of the big game studios are doing a good job justifying to us why games should be $70 for the current generation. I'm sure a ton of work went into remastering and upscaling The Last of Us Part I or even Persona 5 Royal for PS5, but there are diminishing returns for how much work goes into a PS5 game versus what consumers want to pay for.

After watching Sony’s The Last of Us video showcasing all the changes to the PS5 version I can see why they want to remake it. However, I don’t think I’ll pay $70 for it. A lot of the changes look good but this is a game that’s been released twice already and I think everyone who has wanted to play it already has. I don’t know how many people have a PS5 but I’m not in a hurry to run out and buy one just for this game

Yes the wifi usb bluetooth chip worked exactly like how you described. I used to play mario kart ds online that way. It was a cool way to play ds games with my friends without going to their houses

For those surprised by the Persona 5 news: welcome to Atlus.

They, as a company should be able to stand right next to square in terms of quality games and products, but they don’t. Know why? It’s because they constantly do stupid stuff like this. Persona was stubbornly locked to Sony consoles until recently despite the absolute clamoring for it to go to other consoles. Considering SMT could release for Nintendo and Arena for Xbox, I don’t think there was exclusivity, but they were stubborn anyway.

They don’t care about customer satisfaction, only their own profits.

The Last of us remake is listed as $89.99 here in Canada (at least on Amazon) and it's already getting review bombed with people saying it's too expensive. Rated currently at 1 star.

Resident Evil was released in 1996 and by 2001 - five years later - the remake was lightyears ahead from a graphical standard and a huge part of the game was entirely new content, expanding the story, locations to explore, and puzzles to solve. That is how you do a remake.
