SEASONS of NORWAY - A Time-Lapse Adventure in 8K

With its imposing mountains, endless plateaus and echoing valleys, Norway is a country where nature takes the lead. Using time-lapse, this film attempts to capture the ebb and flow of the seasons and is a result of one year of planning, a second year of shooting and four months of editing.
 
20,000 kilometers have been travelled, 200,000 photos taken and 20 terabytes worth of hard drives filled. Months have been spent hiking through the mountains, sleeping in tents and travelling through the entire country hunting for the best locations.
 
SEASONS of NORWAY is shot and edited by Morten Rustad. The video is available in up to 8K resolution (7680*4320 letterboxed).

I still have goosebumps right now as I'm writing this. What's different about this short film from other 4-8K videos out there is that Morten actually gets it as a filmmaker. From the get-go he shows that it's more than just high tech gear and pretty landscape. He skilfully mixes shot types, angles and speed, picks all the right shots for the different parts of the music (and/or vice versa by Jogeir), and does not shy away from the darker moodier moments as a visual/emotional contrast, before bringing everything to a crescendo with the northern light scene. Absolute masterpiece.

Notice how the sun sets in Norway. It doesn't just go straight down, it sets almost horizontally because of how far north Norway is. Very cool!

You know? Watching this video, apart from the hundreds of videos that I have seen about Norway, I come to a simple conclusion: Norway is like a natural museum where in every corner, around every curve, there is a surprise waiting, and not just flush on the ground, but also in the sky, with the wonder of the phenomenon that is the midnight sun, apart from a semi-cloudy sky, where the contrast of lights leaves those who contemplate it speechless. I hope, shortly, and when all the Covid maelstrom has passed, I will get to know this great natural museum with my motorhome.
