Insane how much stuff was scrapped for DP. The game was even -somewhat famously - delayed too, which is a rarity for pokemon games nowadays.

The original location of the Pokèmon center, along with an early Jubilife design, was also shown in pre-release screenshots in Coro Coro before the game's release.


There's also unused map in Platinum called C01GYM0101, which was likely meant to be the Jubilife gym.

Fun Fact: Charizard's unused female design was actually used in early promotional material for Pokémon Red & Green and the Pokémon Zensho manga.

Fun fact the pre-evolution of Vulpix was originally going to appear in Gold & Silver versions aka Gen II I had no idea that Game Freak revisited that design only to scrap it again.

The idea of handicapping yourself by running mono (Or themed) team in exchange for buffs for that team is something I always wanted to see in those games.
There's so many interesting trainer classes, that's it's really surprising they never really let us to larp as them. USUM had a nurse outfit as a reward for completing the dex and I remember having so much fun catching all pokemons in heal balls and planning a viable team made of pokemons that a nurse would have - I want more of that.

I've always wondered when Diamond & Pearl started development and if it was originally meant for the DS or the GBA. It was originally announced in October 2004 (thank you Serebii news archives) with a 2005 launch originally planned. The DS released only as early as it did because of the PSP, so I'm really curious if it began with the intent of being a GBA game.

My favorite areas of Platinum? Probably Floaroma Town, Route 205 and Eterna Forest, those locations just hit close to home for me. Lake Valor is another one, a quiet lakeside resort town. Same goes for Canalave City with its peaceful atmosphere. Sinnoh as a whole felt incredibly rustic in its atmosphere, and I'm bringing only Platinum up since Diamond and Pearl, as well as its remakes, just look like alpha builds and not exactly proper titles.

Cyrus was also a more fleshed-out character in Platinum and the Pokémon Adventures manga, as the latter makes him out to be kind of terrifying...
