Every year, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) selects a special group of people to make up the CF-18 Demonstration Team. The Demonstration Team members all come from RCAF units across the country, and all are selected for their superior performance, dedication to excellence, and the desire to represent Canada’s operational Air Force.

The team comprises 13 members including the Demo pilot, eight technicians, three safety pilots and a public affairs officer/narrator.

Captain Dan Deluce is the pilot for the 2021 CF-18 Demonstration Team.

So many Canadians know nothing of the RCAF and their work in both NORAD & NATO. Sometimes a group of misguided people, often church members or those in the arts community, will say our armed forces represent the evil of Militarism without understanding anything about how deterrence prevents conflict and how appearing weak and being weak can bring about war. The lessons of history are clear and countries such as Poland opened themselves to invasion because they were not adequately defended. Poland had an excellent intelligence service prior to WW 2 but just did not have the Airforce & Army necessary to face NAZI attack. Every time I hear the unqualified speak of national defense I think of those, in Poland, who were crushed by the NAZI war machine. Of women and children trying to find safety as they were attacked from the air. Nothing encourages aggression more then not being prepared to defend sovereignty and the liberty and human rights of your population. And yes I have studied deterrence at the University level.
