PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION
To see the Autumn Colour PART 1 on inappropriate bikes !The weather has been sooo $h1t this summer, we found a decent day at the end of October so six of us Wiltshire Whizzers riders - with an average age of 72 headed off to see the Autumn colour in the Forest of Dean. You are welcome to use our route:
To be honest I did not figure on the roads being quite as bad as they were and our bikes - all commuter bikes were totally inappropriate:
Rod on his Yamaha XMAX 400cc Scooter
Colin on his BMW 400cc Scooter
Alan on his BMW 310GS
Sam on his BMW 1200 (the only suitable bike!)
Kevin on his Bullet 125
And me on my XSR125
We started at the Severn MOTO Services by the Old Severn Bridge, met Kevin in Alvington and rode across to Brockweir and on to The Filling Station at Tintern for coffee. We then traversed horrendous but stunning roads through the forest eventually ending up back at Llandogo. At Bigsweir Bridge we kept to the west side of the river up to Monmouth for a slap up lunch in Weatherpoons! After lunch we went back into Gloucestershire where Kevin took us around several of the Forest ponds including Mallard's Pike. On the way back, Rod took us on a route he knew from Parkend to via St Briavels and back down to Bigsweir Bridge back across the River Wye to Wales once again and home. Some remained at Tintern for Coffee but Colin and I made for home, before dark.
A wonderful ride out - the Forest of Dean was beautiful, the River Wye was picturesque albeit the roads were a bit worrying in place but no casualties on this occasion!!
If you are watching in two parts, PART 2 will follow next week.
Thanks for watching.
