My quick takeaways.

#1 - The Italians, are consistent. : - )

#2 - God bless Spyderco.

#3 - M390 is really floundering, across the board.

#4 - We need to keep a close eye on Reate. Have you emailed David Deng about this yet? I know they are passionate about making top quality knives, as a company. I also know they are one of the rare few, who grind their edgeds cool/wet. Now is the time, to give them a quick heads-up. To make sure they take this work, one step higher.

Nice to see the U.S. Knives are consistently on top with good HRC , thank God Spyderco is finally getting something right . THANKS LTK for doing some of these older models, I have a lot of these same knives and I'm super relieved to see the good numbers .

Its nice to know Kershaws HT is improving on their budget m390 blades. I recently bought both a M390 Link & Dividend and was wondering what HRC they were running them around nowadays.

Have you tested any Benchmade cruwear? I was curious what HRC my adamas auto might be. Benchmade says 63-65 HRC.

Kinda disappointed by Reate. They advertise 61 hrc if im not mistaken on their m390, the new ones tho, the wave and the mini horizon are not that new. But hey must keep an eye open on these. I know they even use that freeze edging technique so its strange. I know a two knives sample aint gonna represent the overall quality of their products, plus the hrc is just a number, these might even outclass a 62hrc in a cutting test but its worth checking with the owner. Let him know.

I know to not judge by a sample of one however you can judge by a sample of a few makes/countries such as the Italians don't seem to know how to handle M390 and in general I dunno if anybody does but that comes with trying the latest and greatest...which I don't do just give me something older and well known like my Boker automatic in plain'ol AUS-8 which works fine.

Unless I get a knife that has already been sent to Kurt I cut before I know the hrc. Surprise, my M390 Modus was also 57.8 hrc.

Spyderco is so good all around. I hate i find them so damn ugly! I wont buy any due to aesthetics. IMO. imo

Just a thought. When you've got a few knives in 20cv or M390 that are near to ideal hardness such as this batch. Drop them in liquid nitrogen or dry ice for a couple of hours then retest them. That'll show whether the companies are doing the recommended cryo treatment.
