From the top menu WiFi can be disabled. And then when you want to connect, turn on the WiFi. No more always searching.

Wow I never saw that list before. I checked on 3/16/23, I had WiFi networks on my phone to every place I’ve been to prior 2007 on my current iPhone. I could tell you my work history just from the name of the networks on there.

Phones need a hardware kill switch to disable WiFi. Disabling it by software can sometimes get enabled again by a simple software update

I literally have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off. It’s so easy to clone and replicate a network. And if someone were targeting me specifically then it would be all to easy to hijack a commonly connected to device. Even cell reception is a pvp enabled zone, so it doesn’t really matter that much anyways, I’m just trying to save battery. Stay safe out there

Doesn't the WiFi access point send out it's SSID, and the phone only receives that SSID and then decide if it's a known network, and only then try to connect to it?

A suggestion to all iPhone user use shortcuts automate feature and set wifi turn off when you leave home proximity so you would be safe and for most of us their are at most 2~3 places like our office, home or fiends/family place that we visit regularly and their with geo location you can turn on /off Wi-Fi and pro tip also can set mobile data to go the opposite.
