Okay, this video gave me a multitude of red flags, the biggest of which is: aren't we trying to get away from overly processed foods? Why are we trusting snack makers, who are trying to sell product, with our health?

The secret of deliciousness is high oil, high salt and high sugar and also glutamic acid, which provides a high degree of umami..But you can't eat those often, because they're like a person who isn't hungry eating a big piece of compressed biscuit.

Bloomberg should cover the MSG angle, especially yeast extract. I don't think yeast extract or msg is that horrible for your body, but I do think it's terrible for the psychological aspect of food. The brain is supposed to associate glutamates with protein rich meats and nutritious fruits and I believe the psychological conditioning tricks the brain into over eating. Same with food dyes -- which I don't think are overly toxic, but have profound psychological implications that are ignored. The brain developed color vision largely for the purpose of nutrition and hacking the eyes/brain with food dyes and giving nutrient lacking sugar water instead is concerning. From an engineering perspective, breaking the bond between color and nutrition is like destroying the feedback mechanism that gives necessary nutrients. When the nutrients are lacking and the eyes still see food, it only makes sense the brain decides to try to eat more to reach the nutrients it needs.

FDA sets a limit of 5% yeast extract in finished food products, but many people are confused and think the msg is only at 5% in the extract itself. The FDA limit for pure MSG is 600mg for a 150lb person. This means if the yeast extract is 99% msg (possible with the FDA definitions given if I'm not mistaken), you can only eat ~.2 lbs of food with yeast extract before hitting the maximum cap of msg. If you are eating chips, you probably eat far more than this 3.2oz limit. Perhaps yeast extract is not nearly pure MSG, but how much msg can be refined out of 'yeast extract' while still calling it yeast extract doesn't have to be listed and is probably proprietary and could be even higher than 99%.

there's no time for traditionally healthy meals so people transition to snacks? As far as I know regular people can't afford good and healthy food anymore. So yeah, if we continue the current economic and fiscal path this is a great investment. Mixed with pinch of AI buzz pump of course
