The last emperor of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, had three marriages in his lifetime. We have previously talked about the stories of his second wife, Soraya, and his third wife, Farah. Now, let's talk about the story of the first queen of the Pahlavi dynasty, who was also a princess of Egypt named Fawzia.

Thank God she ended up happy, so much of her younger life was so sad. She really did look like Hedy Lamar and Vivien Leigh, what a beauty.

She was extraordinarily beautiful, the most beautiful princess of the twentieth century, she looked like a movie star, no wonder she was called the Venus of the east, her beautiful translucent skin tone was due to her Circassian ancestry, most beautiful women in the world. May she rest in peace...

She never became a commoner as she was born a princess. That can't be taken away.

Princess Fawzia was absolutely beautiful, been Queen of Iran and Princess of Egypt, but she fought all obstacles in her path and managed to find happiness even losing all her titles. May her beautiful soul RIP, Ameen

I think this needs to be said. The reason her marriage was unhappy was NOT because it was arranged but because of the attitudes of her husband, her husband's family, and possibly (just because no one is completely blameless in relational issues) herself. The success of a marriage is not based on if it was for love or not, it is based on the attitudes of the people involved. Look at marriages for love...they don't have a great track record. Both the husband and the wife need to enter the marriage choosing to treat the other with love and respect no matter how they feel. Both people need to be faithful and committed for life actually and seriously. Both people need to be selfless and put the other person's needs above their own. Tell me, if someone treated you like that, of course you'd fall in love with them/stay in love with them. This is the way marriages survive, not from how they start, but from how they continue. I come from a long line of strong happy marriages on both sides of my family and from parents who have been married for over 30 years. I am also currently very happily married to the love my life and guess what....it only gets better :).

Her father Fuad is Albanian.... In 1913, Fuad made unsuccessful attempts to secure the throne of Albania for himself, which had obtained its independence from the Ottoman Empire a year earlier. At the time, Egypt and Sudan was ruled by his nephew, Abbas II, and the likelihood of Fuad becoming the monarch in his own country seemed remote. This, and the fact that the Muhammad Ali dynasty was of Albanian descent, encouraged Fuad to seek the Albanian throne.[3]

To live as a commoner with a somewhat comfortable financial situation is better than to live as a royal or something of celebrities.

Finally a beautiful princess like in a fairy tale. Unlike unfortunately in many European "royal families" there are no signs of inbreeding to be seen in the faces of Fawzia's family. 😉 thank you for this story.

Princess Fawzia was the love of the life of the Shah of Iran. When she fled to her country, Egypt, he tried to appease her and get her back by all means. She did not accept, and he kept remembering her until the end of his life, according to what he wrote in his memoirs about her, and his stay at the end of his life in the palace that witnessed their marriage ceremony was probably not a coincidence.

She was born a Princess and she died a Princess - it was her birthright. She could never have become a commoner.

As an Albanian I know very well the story of Egypt's royal family. It's true that in her family she had more freedom beacose being grown with Albanian roots. Under the rules of this royal family Egypt had a very significant growth being a modern country.
