Every single game we say "Foden has to start, you need to make room for him somewhere", and every single game, he stinks up the pitch. Even against Iceland, he was constantly getting in Palmer's way as he doesn't understand how to play with Kane who likes to come deep. Love Foden, and for City, he's arguably the best player in the world but for England, he's just not the guy. Gordon did more against Bosnia than Foden might have ever done in an England shirt.

England need wingers who like to play wide with this fullback situation. When you play against a team thats gonna sit deep and your fullbacks are Walker who will stay back and come inside and Trippier who is right footed on the left and as such is also gonna want to come inside you need the wingers to keep the width. Thats why Saka and Gordon should start imo

With Trent there Kane shouldn't come into the midfield. He'll want to hang in the penalty area for crosses or through balls

The team just feels slow. You can just imagine them having 70% of the ball, passing sideways, and backwards. Kane dropping deep and having nobody getting in behind. We could see England playing better when Gordon and Bowen come on.

Trent needs to start however the last time him, Walker and Saka played, it was terrible because Walker kept getting in the way of the other 2 and the chemistry between them was terrible. Trent and Saka’s link up is so good. Walker kept running into the spaces the other two were trying to occupy.

Southgate has had an absolute howler by only picking one left back in the whole squad. Having right footed left backs makes us slower, narrower and less direct plus completely eliminates the overlapping threat of a left back getting to the byline. Totally stupid. Trippier is a great right back, he’s a below average left back and it’ll cost us if shaw doesn’t get fit.

Saka hate is so forced and uniformed. Of of all the wide players England have had the last 5 years, he has been the most consistently great in an England shirt. He never ever fails to deliver.

The problem with Trent is the press and defence win championship so I think it will be Connor Gallagher to play and squeeze the pitch to get turn over and hopefully play the ball quicker to the front . Only issue with this it does not feel like a cohesive pattern of play where as , what you pointed feel like it can be more creative issues is I feel the things take time to build and they have not played together long

No Trent no party. Lots of great players but creatively foden needs Guardiola's system to shine. Palmer can create but kane always dropping doesn't help congestion centrally and doesn't stretch the defence.

Trippier is past his best and should not start for England. Gomez at lb would make more sense. I can’t see GS playing an attacking team at all, his defensive, lack of any flair play is killing England’s best chance for years. Sadly I don’t think HIS England will even make it out of the group stage. I would love to be wrong but I honestly think he is just too safe and defensive and predictable as a manager.

I think everyone is so fixated on the idea of Trent in midfield they just expect it to work. But when you look at the Bosnia game, he looked shakey until he was out back at RB when he then began to preform

Walkers only "necessary" at rb against like, 1 or 2 teams in the euros, IF u don;t trust trent, against anyone else, trent is comfortable at rb and offers 20x more than walker on the ball. doesn't need to play midfield imo.

Foden struggles on the Left Wing for England, it's not his favourite position. England play with Inside Forwards and because Foden is left footed you're asking him to cut inside on his weaker foot.
