Orote Landing Zone Operations in Guam

The 554th Red Horse Squadron's Expeditionary Airfield Damage Repair team in conjunction with Sailors from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, cleared ten obstructions, removed 100 tons of vegetation, and conducted 21 hot-mix asphalt repairs for the landing zone at the Orote Airfield. The 36th Contingency Response Squadron provided landing zone operations to allow for the landing of a C-12 for the first time at Orote Point in more than a decade. The evolution was part of the Cope North 2024 exercise.

Airmen from the 36th Contingency Response Squadron participated in Orote Operations Landing Zone training, Dec. 3-4, 2024, at Naval Base, Guam. The goal of the training is to produce Landing Zone Safety Officers, and train personnel in Air Traffic Control, Airfield Management, Radar, Airfield & Weather Systems and Weather, further complimenting 36th CRS
