Hawkmoth's TRUE POWER! The Future of Miraculous - Heroes' Day Part 1/Catalyst Discussion

It's time. Season 2 of Miraculous Ladybug is coming to an end and Heroes' Day Part 1 "Catalyst" gave us a culmination of everything we've seen so far in Miraculous. We may very well be on the brink of the holder of the Peacock Miraculous and Scarlet Hawkmoth changing Miraculous Ladybug forever.

Hawkmoth is getting more and more desperate. He starts off civil, patiently waiting for a time to strike. Now he's sick of playing by the rules. losing isn't an option or a possibility in his eyes at this point.

I thought how they connected this with Natalie was nice.
She's his assistant. She increases productivity and manages everything he's not in his life, and Gabriel's life. Everything around her changes, but she doesn't seem to change whenever we see her[?]. She just sort of adapts.. This might just be me being a simpleton, but I like this connection.

He couldn't do this before because he needs something that would make all of Paris feel some kind of negative emotion. Why he waited to do this now, idk, but he has been waiting for Lila and said "I will see you again" so it will probably be revealed in the next episode.

I’m pretty sure the potential that Master Fu is referring to is that he can akumatize someone to power himself up, unlike before where he relied on his victims emotions to create the power. This time, he pretty much had control of what that power was, since he had influence on his victim this time. And I think in the origins episode, they talk about how Hawk Moths actual power is to create super heroes who act as his minions, in contrast however, he tells Nooroo, that he’ll instead focus on negative emotions to create villains instead, so I assume the focus on negative emotions is not necessarily the requirement to gain the superpowers, but instead a strong emotion, the negative aspect is probably what makes them do evil. In the case of Natalie, I think it is her strong emotion of loyalty and devotion to Gabriel is what allows her to be powered up. As for what Hawk Moths power is equivalent to Cataclysm and Lucky Charm, I think akumatization is not it. That, or since the Butterfly miraculous seems to be more of a behind the front line type of power, almost like a tactician who orders others around instead of fighting, he may actually not have one and akumatization is all he has. I feel like if he did have some sort of power up, it may be something like giving a boost to whoever he controls. Though, maybe Nooroo himself hasn’t told Gabriel, since he knows he is using his power for evil.

Much like Ladybug has “secondary powers” (purifying akumas, and fixing things that are broken) I think Hawkmoth’s “secondary” power is akumatizing people.

Likewise, the butterfly miraculous senses people with strong emotions originally to give that person superhero powers temporarily. It was meant to help not hurt. With that in mind, anyone with strong feelings could potentially get akumatized whether they are negative or positive. I’m willing to bet Nathalie is super in love with Gabriel and wanted to assist him - making the whole Catalyst thing possible. I’m not sure Hawkmoth could modify his powers with anyone else as other akumatized victims have vastly different agendas. He would also have to leave his lair or reveal his lair to a victim as well. It works out that Nathalie has been cool with him being a terrorist.

So Ladybug in China and Ladybug in NY was confirmed some time ago. A lot of people got excited when Audrey offered Marinette to come to NY because of that. Ladybug is part of a bigger universe titled “Zag Heroez” and a supposed team up with the Ghost Force may/may not happen in New York.

So the identity thing! Alya has correctly pinpointed Nino, Adrien, and even Marinette’s identities whether she knows it or not. And Chloe has seen Tikki associated being associated with Marinette. So if anyone finds out Ladybug’s identity I’ll be looking at them.

Hawkmoth didn't up into action his plan until now because he needed to build up the fear in people. He chose Lila from the beginning to help him with his plan so we know he was still creating his plan. The fear was created much stronger in the people after seeing one of their beloved heros killed. Why not wait if it means a better chance of winning? Also he just reakumatized the previous akumas, so he needed more, thus waiting. It's brilliant actually, how he was patient and took the time to make this plan, which we don’t even know everything about yet. Think of it in that perspective Cartoon Universe! You guys rock!! 👍👍

Well, he did use the same akuma, I'm very fairly sure. My thought was that his powers countdown don't go into effect until his Ally is defeated. Still a little OP really, but I think that may be the case

The ability can only be used once per transformation, afterward, the Kwami must eat something to recharge, then they can transform again(Lady WiFi is a good example of this, where Ladybug uses Lucky Charm twice, but only after Tikki eats a cookie in between.)

Hawkmoth planned this out with the help of Natalie. By establishing many villains he would be able to know who are his best prey to being akumatized Natalie came up with a scarlet hawkmoth idea

He didn't do it earlier because he wanted to get the most negative emotions possible, otherwise his akumas were useless. The heroes day parade was the best time to do this, everyone was watching the illusion so it had a stronger effect and better for his akumas.

Hawkmoth knows the miraculous guardian is based in Paris, so unless Master Fu leaves, they will stay in Paris

Why doesn’t Hawkmoth give Natalie the power to bring Emilie back to life, it seems like that would be a lot easier...

You are forgetting Queen Wasp was able to use her power multiple times(more than once) after being Akumatized. What if Catalyst uses her powers on Adrien's mother? She looks like a corpse but is she?

hawkmoth had to wait to build up Lila's hatred for ladybug so that she can create the illusion that would make the Parisians filled with negative emotions so that way when Natalie/Catalyst makes hawkmoth the Scarlet Butterfly he can akumatize multiple people at once

The only reason he’s doing this is to get the lady bug and cat miraculous
But he could move to new York but I’m not sure why if lady bug and chat noir are in France...

The reason nathalie was akumatized without anger/sadness is because that is only necessary for the akuma to find the victim

The butterfly purified itself as it was flying home I think, or hawkmoth purified it as he had no need for it, which should be possible because there's no point being able to do something that only someone else can undo

He couldn’t do this before because he needed Natalie to be subject to strong emotions, which happened a few episodes ago when he almost gave up (or pretended to almost give up?). He also needed a way to inspire negative emotions in a large number of citizens to optimize Scarlet Hawkmoth, which he couldn’t do without Volpina. We can assume Queen Wasp takes place not much earlier than Catalyst, so it’s entirely plausible that Hawkmoth decided to wait until Heroes Day to maximize his impact.
