Jussie Smollett Arrested & Charged With False Police Report

Chicago Police have charged Jussie Smollett with felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report about the hate crime attack and taken him in custody.

Police said Smollett did this because he was not happy with his salary on “Empire.”

Police said he first tried to send a fake hate letter to himself, but when that did not get enough attention, he paid $3, 500 to two men, who were brothers, to fake a hate attack on January 29.

Smollett told police that two men shouted racial and homophobic slurs, tied a noose around his neck and poured bleach on him, and shouted, “this is MAGA country.”

Police said they were able to track the brothers as they walked and rode a cab leaving the site of the “attack” to the airport where they flew to Nigeria.

Police waited for them to fly back last week, then took them in custody at the airport last Wednesday. Police then figured out that Smollett paid them.

The state attorney’s office approved a felony charge against Smollett and he turned himself in to police today at 6 a.m.

A judge set his bail at $100, 000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport.

The police superintendent said Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career.

President Trump criticized Smollett in a tweet this morning.

US Coast Guard Arrested for Plotting Domestic Terrorism

Last Friday, a U.S Coast lieutenant, Christopher Paul Hasson, was arrested on illegal weapons and drug charges.

Federal investigators discovered at least 15 firearms, several rifles and over 1, 000 rounds of ammunition at his apartment in Maryland.

In court records, the investigators have also discovered the following:

He had a list of people he wanted to kill that included well known Democratic Congressional leaders, 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, and journalists from MSNBC and CNN.

In two separate letters he wrote to himself in 2017, he mentioned that he reached out to a neo-Nazi leader and calls himself as a White Supremacist and wanted to commit violence against specific people in order to establish a homeland for only white people.

Hasson had been working at the U.S Coast Guard headquarters in Washington since 2016 and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army National Guard.

A U.S Coast Guard spokesperson says Hasson no longer works for the Coast Guard.

Hasson appeared in a federal court for a detention hearing today to determine if he should be detained in jail while he faces these charges.

Giant Bee Rediscovered in Indonesia

Recently in January, a team of scientists re-discovered a giant female bee species that was thought to be extinct.

It hadn't been seen since 1981. It is called Wallace’s Giant Bee and is the world’s biggest bee.

It is 1.5 inches long, the size of an adult thumb and has a dark colored body.

It has a wingspan of about two and half inches and has a huge mandible to help it build its nests.

This discovery came after biologists from the United States, Canada and Australia teamed up to go to Indonesia to try to find and photograph the bee. It took them five days before they finally found one.

Scientists hope that this discovery will help start more future research to learn more about this type of bee since they know very little about it.

With more information, scientists can make more efforts to protect the species from actually becoming extinct.

Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim Hits, Kills Pedestrian

Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim, as he was driving after a basketball game, struck and killed a man on an interstate last night around 11:30 pm.

The man, Jordan Jimenez (51), was walking on the road because the car he was crashed in a prior incident. He was a passenger and the car was in the middle of the road.

Police said Boeheim was driving on the same road and as he tried to drive around it, he struck the man. He was taken to the hospital, but died.

Police said they gave sobriety and blood-alcohol tests and that it showed Boeheim had a level of 0.0.

Boeheim was not hurt. Police said there would be no tickets. Boeheim said he was heartbroken.
