Ping Pang Pong Chinese Dim Sum Las Vegas

Just because of its name, I avoided this dim sum restaurant at the Gold Coast for many years. But it turns out Ping Pang Pong actually serves some of the best Chinese food in any Las Vegas casino.

Ate at the new restaurant last night, it's just as good as it used to be but the decor looks much nicer and is more fitting for the quality of the food.

I went to a Chinese wedding once in San Francisco. I could not believe the amount of food, I ate like an elephant and probably embarrased myself. Winning! haha!

The Lucky Dragon Casino is open and they have a small-ish food area. I tried their noodles and they reminded me of Hong Kong and their beef was pretty good too.

its pretty good canto style Chinese food. i go there at least once whenever i visit Vegas. They at least give a little modicum of service unlike a lot the Chinese places in Chinatown. when you see Chinese willing to wait in line it usually means two things. Good food at a good value or its on sale .

I have enjoyed Ping Pang Pong for many years. The name is not racist at all, at least not to me, Chinese. I believe it derives from the distinguishing sound in a real Chinese restaurant kitchen when it is real busy. I worked in the kitchen for many years and the cooks habitually strike their metal ladles and spatulas on the rim of the metal wok. This is to get excess sauces and food stuck on them back into the wok. As soon as the food is done, the cook will have to pull a plate out of the stack and transfer the food onto the plate, all in two to three scoops; thus causing another noise. It is usually noisy inside the kitchen. The sound signifies the speed the dishes are being cranked out. One time, a cook boasted to me that he could crank out a dish in under two minutes time and he did it. So, there you go. Not everything is racist!

Ping Pang Pong...every time Derrick says it, I have to laugh. The restaurant name in Chinese is different, not Ping Pang Pong. ha. Dim sum and seafood chow mein looks legit and delicious, better than some in metro city Chinatowns where Chinese dine. Love chive dumplings, my favorite dim sum item. Gravy for the seafood noodle dish is chicken broth thickened with corn starch slurry and probably flavored with ginger and garlic.
Derrick, please do a re-visit and vdo review of the new restaurant.
