The work life balance is amazing! I have been on a 4 10 schedule for my entire apprenticeship so far. We work Monday-Thursday 6am-4pm. The 3 day weekends are great and it's nice always having holidays off and being able to take extra time off whenever I need to.

I’m 3 months in to my apprenticeship and can’t be happier with the decision to start this career

the schedule is great it's from 6-2:30. I can go to work early and come home to, work out, go to church, and study. IBEW local 26 all the way !!!!

I’m a 4th year apprentice at local 58 Detroit and this is the best career I could’ve asked for. I have complete and total freedom to take off whenever I need! And weekends are ALWAYS optional! Mad love from Detroit my fellow brother 💪

I've been doing non union solar for 11 years. I think I want to go union this video makes me feel way better about it. I have a kid and a wife I very much consider more important than anything in the world.

Hi. 2nd year apprentice, half way through year 2. Gotta say I love the work (most of the time) and while school is somewhat stressful, with the pay, combined with the work itself and benefits and all other areas, I love this career choice and feel conformable and safe with it. Only wish I'd gotten into it earlier

I'm 46 and currently working, studying for the aptitude test, and saving as much as I possibly can so that if/when I'm accepted into apprentice program, the pay cut going in won't feel so extreme and I'll still be able to cover my living expenses without having to land a second job. I'm older, of course, but in a situation kind of like your brother was -- making a decent wage at my current job (I've been here 8 years!), but knowing this isn't really my ideal career, and that the pay cut I'll face upon entry into the IBEW is only a temporary hurdle. It will require sacrifices, like anything meaningful, but your channel (and John's) have convinced me that it's totally worth it! Thank you for all you do. It truly has been an inspiration and an invaluable resource. Glad Local 48 and Providence are treating you right. You've earned it!

Don't really mind long hours. The money would be nice as I come from nothing. Going to be pushing myself hard to be able to graduate and get in and soon as possible.

Can you make a video about vacation week progression, amount of sick days, and amount of personal days a year?

Totally agree about switching from a salary position. So much more time and less pressure. Just work hard for your 40 and do homework for a weekly class. Looking forward to journeyman life $$. Only 6 months in.

I wake up around 4am-4:20am. Leave around 4:30am. Start work at 6am with my best friend (Mad Electrician), do electrical thangs all day, and get home around 3:30pm. In my free time I enjoy a hot shower, cooking dinner, making my own youtube videos, then watching better edited youtube videos and gaming streams. I go to bed around 8pm-11:30pm. Occasionally fix my 34 year old Toyota Camry when it breaks again. Living my best life every day!

Why does this feel like a Tinder profile? LOL!

7000 hours in 4 years 3 years perfect school attendance. Inflammation from an electrical burn and a bundle of RMC to the back ended my career before graduation. Here's a warning I was given by an old spark at a Boston pub who had a conduit runners injury, 'don't let them let you defeat yourself'. I sort of miss giving the best a run for they're money. I worked with wrestlers that got tired before I did hahaha. Not anymore though. What is the proper pace eh?

This video is right on time, I was just wondering this yesterday. Just started with an electric company this week, and come May when school starts I should be accepted into the apprenticeship. 8 1/2 hours/day on top of 3 hours school twice a week I'm thinking of going to be rough, because you also have to study about 8 hours a week.

I’m working private sector with my brother and law rn. Pay is alright. Benefits are non existent but the hours are great. 7:30 to 2 generally and I get paid the full 8 hours. But I don’t get the benefit of schooling or even a solid job high paying job down the line. Union is where it’s at. Hoping to join u guys soon studying for my test in April

Interested in the part about starting school-- when you passed the interview, did you start working soon after, and then started classes at a later date?
