The zoom lense compresses the depth of field and makes the ocean look a lot closer than it really is. Hollywood actually uses this technique to make people appear much closer to fires/explosions that they really are, but I think in this case it was just an accident that came out looking pretty cool.

It looks like there must be a coral barrier where the ocean breaks in huge waves. It’s pretty common. But those particular waves seemed unusually big. Seemed like tidal waves or a storm approaching.

What's scary in this video is that if you look out the pool window towards the water and where the level of the sea is (not the waves) it appears the pool could be a good 2 feet+ below sea level.
