My wife has a less-than-stellar memory.

Every year, around Easter, my mother mysteriously find presents she’d hidden and forgot about. Did this even when I was a kid. 😂

I told my roommate that she was obviously now family because I'd lost her present. My (adult) kids just take it for granted; it's part of our family Christmas routine.

This reminds me of my parents this (or rather last) year. traditionally my dad was going to get a calendar for the kitchen. When my mom was wrapping all the presents a couple of days before Christmas she started frantically looking for the calendar - even in the crevices between the wardrobes and walls in my parents bedroom as well as mine. She just couldn't find it. When my dad got home from work, we asked him whether he knew where it was, to which he replied that he put it in his "secret hiding spot" after he bought the calendar himself back in late summer/early fall. Somehow my mom was under the impression that they bought it together and then put it away herself.

Ha! I got one better. I got my oldest child a laptop for Christmas. I also got a hard drive and a stick of ram. I hid them both. Although I found the laptop the ssd and ram were missing. I looked everywhere. I had to buy a whole new set. I convinced myself I threw away the bag they were in. Christmas Day came around and I was putting some clothes away and found them. I’m my sock drawer. That I swear I looked in multiple times. So I’m going to have to take the first set back. At least I found them, right?
