New York Knicks news and rumors are on fire as NBA Free Agency and the NBA Draft are almost here. Ian Begley of SNY answered questions about what he thinks the Knicks will do this offseason and may have given inside access as to what Leon Rose’s plan is. Begley mentioned he thinks the Knicks will re-sign Isaiah Hartenstein and OG Anunoby. While using their draft capital in this upcoming draft to trade for a star. He also mentioned teams like the Cavs, Pelicans and maybe the Clippers could look to shake things up. They have enough draft capital to make an aggressive offer for a top player. If there is a player who they believe fits their team, they will make a strong push for that player. You saw it in the 2022 offseason with Donovan Mitchell. I don’t think their stance on pursuing a star is any different today than it was then. If I had to guess about this offseason, I’d say that the Knicks re-sign Isaiah Hartenstein and OG Anunoby and dangle at least one of their 2024 first-round draft picks in trade packages for a star player as the draft approaches.

Max contract for OG and I-Hart
Sign Kris Dunn for backup PG - very underrated, excellent defender(which Thibs would love), plays within flow of game, and part of ***CAA***. Hopefully he can play 14-18 mpg to alleviate the amount of min Brunson plays.
Sign Robert Covington as backup PF/SF -coming off an injury so shouldn’t command much, good defender, decent 3P, also ***CAA***. Really only need 8-12 min from him to allow Randle or OG to get some rest.

The roster is set honestly, we just need backup pieces to allow our players to have optimal rest. The ONLY way we break up current roster is for Giannis, in which case we trade Randle+Robinson or Bogdanovic+5 FRPs, and sign Andre Drummond for backup C position.

MARSHALL I'm in the comments saying get rid of Randle. We keep "running it back" with Randle only for him to be a in-season warrior and croak in the post season. I get his numbers helps us get to the playoffs, but what's the point if he's not going to or can't show up when it matters.
He's been with us for 5 seasons. In those 5 seasons, we've been to the playoffs 3 times.
2019-2020 We don't make the playoffs
2020-2021 We got bounced out of the first round by the Hawks 4-1. Julius Randle's efficiency was dog water while we were being carried by Alec Burks and DRose
2021-2022 We got beat in the second round by Miami 4-2. Julius Randle had 1 big game against the Cavs in game 2 of the 1st round. He re-injured the ankle he had surgery on at the end of the season in game 5. He came back in game 2 against Miami, but didn't look the same at all. We got carried by the JB and the rest of the cast.
2022-2023 We don't make the playoffs
2023-2024 He doesn't play with a shoulder injury
I don't wish bad for the guy, but I don't understand why we keep making excuses and keep saying run it back with a star player that is an off brand version of Embiid. We're wasting Jalen Brunson's prime years by hoping Randle will be healthy enough to play, then efficient when he is, during the playoffs. We need to trade him immediately while he has some stock left because no team is going to want to touch him "if" he gets hurt next year as well.

That BI trade is bananas. Three solid bench pieces and three firsts for a one year rental? If they trade for BI, they’d be forced to extend him over Randle. Just run it back (extend OG, iHart and Randle), draft front court depth (Edey and Holmes) and let’s friggin’ go.

If anyone doesn’t know what the Knicks are doing is really dumb! They’re backfiring at the sixers for trying to go after anunoby! You want Anunoby, we will target the player they want in PG13. And personally I think he chooses NY over philly
