Who Is the “Us” in Genesis 1:26?

Commentators variously refer to the “us” in Genesis 1: 26 as angels, a plural of majesty, or a divine plurality. Which interpretation is correct? Hank Hanegraaff, the host of the 𝘉𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘈𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘯 broadcast and the 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘜𝘯𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥 podcast, answers notes that first, though the Bible pictures God as surrounded by an angelic host who worship Him and carry out his commands, there is no biblical basis for suggesting that angels took part in the creation of humankind or that humankind was created in the image of angels. Indeed, humans are said to be created “in the image of God” (v. 27). Furthermore, there is no biblical precedent for the notion that Genesis 1: 26 employs the first-person-plural-pronoun us to refer to God the Father in a fuller, more majestic sense—i.e., a plural of majesty. Finally, there is warrant in the immediate and broader contexts to support the idea that the plural pronoun us refers to the divine plurality of the Trinity.

I understand it to mean Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I literally ran into this passage last night trying to find a New Translation to read. And I was comparing a lot of Translations to Genesis 1. And there are a lot of other religions that don't understand the Trinity, because it a hard to describe. And don't understand that Jesus has always been there since the beginning. So as I was about to go to sleep I read a little further again in Genesis 1, and ended up on verse 26 and it hit me right in the face. It was amazing.

Also when God stopped the construction of the tower of Babel He said "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."

God (called God the Father by Jesus), God's Word (later named Jesus or God the Son), and the Spirit of God (The Holy Spirit).

Greetings, brothers!

I once heard one of your Trinitarian prophets say, "even a blind man could see the Trinity in Scripture." Yet does it seem to me, "only a blind man could see the Trinity in Scripture."

There is no God but One, who is a Spirit, and who is One.

Grace and Peace to you all

Why would a single wise God be referred to in a plural sense. Why would be the use of a name for a singular being in the plural form, ”Elohim"....the answer is pretty obvious...God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. One single essence, One divinity, One wisdom, One power, by 3 real persons in One single unequal unity.

I'm a Christian who believes in the Trinity and the Word of Christ.
Now explain; the 'US' created both 'male' and 'female' He created, them? Then He took a rib from Adam, who was already a male to create 'woman', 'from man, ' as a partner to Adam.
If a female was already created then why remove a rib from Adam?
The Two Creation theory has baffled many Theogins but none have ever really confronted it. Kinda like the scientist who doesn't question his superior when it comes to critical mass or a hole in the original theory.
Science is nothing but theories anyway.
The Gospel's foundation isn't built upon theories but upon faith. See science has no faith. They have only formulas, numbers, and equations, that may work together.
Faith is the sphere of all.

There are three distinct persons in the Godhead. They are distinct but not separate. And that's what trips people up sometimes. Because people tend to humanize God, they don't understand how three distinct "persons" can exist without being separate. But while man was created in the image of God, God is not in the image of man. It is error to try to make God fit into the human mold.

"Us" is God the Father and His Son.
Prov 30:4: "4 Who has ascended up into heaven, or descended? who has gathered the wind in his fists? who has bound the waters in a garment? who has established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if you can tell?" 2:28
Eph 3:9: "9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:" 2:28
Heb 1:1-2: "1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2 Has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"
Col 1:13-17: "13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."
So, God the Father speaks to His Son " Let us make man in our image, after our likeness".

If we are made in the image of God, and there are three person's in the Godhead, where are my two other person's. There is only one of me!

Speaking of creation, John Chapter 1 says that all things were created through Jesus, and without Him there was not anything made, that was made . That means anything . If you've seen the Father, you've seen Him . He and His Father are One .
