Hi Christian,
You r not a teacher.
yes, u aren't.
You r an intellectual person, who knows in depth how to teach. You offer the smart way for us how to learn rather than pouring the information into our minds as traditional teachers, with no lowering to what other teachers do. The difference between the two approaches, to teach us how to learn Vs. pouring the information into our minds, is similar to the Chinese wisdom which says "Teach me how to fish is far better than giving me a bucket full of fish".

Regards,
Ahmad, ☺ 👍 👍 👍

Hi Christian! 🙋‍♂️ Thanks for this useful lesson, so here's the summary of it (text from your board):
2:42 Mature adults can learn a foreign language well enough through intensive study to do things in the language as well as native speakers.
4:30 "Language learning aptitude" varies among individuals and affects their classroom learning success.
5:12 There us NO "one right way" to teach or learn languages, nor is there a single "right" syllabus.
6:15 Time on *???* _(what? I didn't understand this word)_ and the intencity of the learning experience appear crucial. *(=HARD WORK)*
7:18 Learners' existing knowledge about language affects their learning.
8:20 A learner's prior experience with learning (languages or other skills) also affects classroom learning.
9:45 The importance of 'automaticity' in building learner skill and confidence in speaking and reading a language is more important than has been recognised by the field of SLA (?) over the last two decades.
11:00 Learners may not learn a linguistic form until they are "ready" but FSI's experience indicated that teachers and a well-designed course can help learners become ready earlier.
11:55 A supportive, collaborative, responsive learning environment with a rich variety of authentic and teacher-made resources, is *VERY* important in fostering learning.
12:50 Conversation, which on the surface appears to be one of the most basic forms of communication, is actually one of the hardest to master!
13:37 Conclusion of the lesson :)
Thank you for reading this, guys. Just start speak! 😉 *_Fluency comes from practice._*

I've just heard absolutely brilliant words! "You can't buy fluency. The fluency comes from practice. Language is democracy. It belongs to people." - must have to remember

Hi Chris! I'm 49y and Brazilian, during the last 4years i'm studying english as much as possible, and I'm totally agreed with your 10 steps. I would like add some points, today with wifi you can meet natives in english, watch movies, read articles or access all possible english subjects to work our listen, speaking, writing and reading, people need to be connected, so independent of age we could learn faster than some years ago. I love your channel and the way you manage the lessons, congrats for your efforts to help people like me. Your work has high quality. Another very interesting lesson you gave us was regarding phrasal verbs, all of them are simple, direct and rich to understand definitively the english language. Thank you so much!!!

Dear Christian, I've adopted you as my permanent English teacher. I met your videos few days ago and every day I follow you. Thanks for your thoughts. You seem to be a more than a knower (does this word exist? you may understand me, anyway) but a wise man.
And a compassive one too, wich is more important. I descend from Syrians and I followed you with tears in my eyes in your travel to Refugees Camp. Thanks a lot. People like you make the difference in the world.

Hi Christian,
I'm watching your videos every day, since I have found your channel, couple of weeks ago. I always wanted a teacher like you. I never had a single English class, I learned German and Hungarian at school, but I learned English by myself. Started in '88, as a young teenager, with the M. Jackson's album Bad and a dictionary, long time before the internet came to my country. Learning it was all about passion and fun. I haven't been actively and intentionally learning and improving it throughout all these 30 years, and now I realize I must be on that frustrating upper plateau level, which seemingly never gets better.
Now I see I have to learn the names of verbal tenses which I use naturally, without knowing which one is it. And when I don't have someone to communicate with, I transfer my inner dialogue and overthinking into English, so it becomes a whole day practice. Overthinking won't cure your anxiety, but for sure will improve your thinking in a foreign language and vocabulary, so I strongly recommend it. It is experientially proven to have those benefits. 😉
