Gordon's seen all manner of horrific and awful events with the combine forces and the creatures of Xen and never once broke his silence... but the one to drive him to scream in madness is the sight of a furry.

For Gordon seeing the sight of a blue anthropomorphic fox is what finally broke him

Gordon picks up a picture while strolling around the lab and felt a light sadness upon seeing this. He remembered it when he saw the photo on Eli's desk at Black Mesa before the dreaded incident. Eli noticed him and began reminiscing his long-dead wife Azian. A picture before death. Gordon notices his sadness on his regards to his wife who sadly didn't make it during the incident. He reminisces all his co-workers who was at victim to it too. All the lives lost.

But something caught him out. Eli pointed that the baby on the photo was named Krystal. Gordon was indeed confused because he thought it was Alyx there. Oh well, he might have misheard the conversation. However, it's too clear to be misheard. He listened to Eli intently so there was no way he didn't get it. When Alyx came by to visit Eli, Gordon raises the photo attempting to pick up the pieces.

Why was Krystal mentioned there? Why not Alyx? He deduced that maybe it isn't Alyx on the photo. She might have been born before that. It wasn't specified when the photo is taken so maybe it could have taken place before Alyx. Gordon suddenly felt pity for Eli and Alyx Vance. It wasn't just the wife, it also involved Krystal dying. Gordon was taken aback after realizing and began to cry softly. Why do they deserved all of this? Is this why Eli feel contempt to his former boss? Do Alyx Vance realized her death or she was kept safe from this horrible memory?

Gordon felt the need to comfort Eli and Alyx when suddenly his vision began to change. The photo he was holding was changing, the faces of Azian and Krystal began to reform right in front of his eyes. Was he drunk? Was he experiencing hallucinations from all he's been through? Possibly. Suddenly, a voice unfamiliar to him was heard, and he lowers to photo to see a different figure standing in Alyx's place. With his mind clear, Gordon screams in horror, for his companion is a furry.
