I was having a hard time understanding what 'upside down' meant exactly
I appreciate the explanation, I can now confidently place the union at the upper left (observer's), whether vertical or horizontal

Yeah, it's still not hung right in this video. I think the top needs to be level, and the body flat against the surface it is hanging on. It's crooked and touching that furniture. See § 8. Respect for flag: (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.
