That first one is a perfect example of what I want a lot of indie games to do, or even stuff like Octopath. Ditch the super complex shading and 20 colors on one sprite, keep it simple.

No idea if this has been said before but instead of zooming in and out all the time to see pixelart from different "distances" you can just enable a preview window in most art software with support for pixelart. :)

I appreciate how this isn't a complete redraw. It really shows how subtle changes can make a huge difference.

hi Juniper - a quick way to reduce the colours in the first sprite would be to use colour replace with some tolerance added. would have been much quicker and more foolproof

Pixel art was my intro to gaming on the DS with Pokemon Black Version 2. I'm glad to see what once was a hardware limitation has developed into a style with a distinct vibe and identity that's still being used and expanded upon today :D

I've heard it said about pixel art: every pixel must be intentional and serve a purpose.

I feel like I learned a lot from this video, looking forward to more like it!

I keep seeing your Font video in my suggestions. I look up pixel art, click on this video. Same channel. I think I'm going to go ahead and watch your font videos.

Truly just shows, keeping a simple color palette and shades does wonders. Unless you're trying to put finer details on something, you really don't NEED to have more than maybe 4 shades for a one specific color, in my opinion. Probably really depends on the type of Bits you're going for too; like, 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, and 64-bit have different ranges.

I see everywhere to limit the color palette and don't use tons of shades of the same color, and keep it clean and little to no noise. I'm brand new to pixel art, but I'm using a 16x16 pixel to a meter sizing, and keeping low noise makes my art look so washed out and flat. Is this advice universal, or is it generally okay to use more colors if your pixel density is lower?
