T6 Shadow Resistance Guide TBC Phase 3

Everything you want to know about Shadow Resistance in preparation for TBC Classic Phase 3!
Mother Shahraz breakdown of mechanics and how the shadow damage effects you and your raid. Azgalor, which is a boss many people don't use Shadow Resistance on, can still benefit from additional resistance. And finally Kaz'rogal, who famously will burn all your mana. But hopefully after watching this, you'll know how much Shadow Resistance to aim for depending on the DPS of your guild.

It has been brought to my attention there are 2 mistakes in the video, Azgalor is the 4th boss and Kaz'rogal is 3rd. And that I didn't actually explain the reason for SR on Azgalor. Howl of Azgalor is a 5 second Silence which is resistable. In my rudimental testing, SR does of course help increase the chance to resist. But only to a certain point will it increase your damage. The sweet spot appears to be around 120 SR as long as you are replacing poor DPS items for strong SR one. This will be similar for healing but if one healer can resist each silence, it becomes much easier. I hope this clears things up and otherwise I'm happy with the video and I hope you can enjoy it as well <3

The scuffed weapon animations via wow model viewer made me laugh. Love how you attempted to follow the cadence of the walk and then were like "fuck it, bladestorming".

Did this boss on two occasions on the PTR. First time I wore 150 SR and was fine, but used 5 Shadow Wards. Second time I wore 221 and got fatal and was more than healthy. GL Everyone!

You didn't actually explain why you would want SR for Azgalor.

Also, no one should ever die to the fourth mana burn. Just pots and runes alone gives you 5-6k mana back on average, so you're only down 6k mana. Add in Seal of Wisdom, Life Tap, Mana Gems, Innervate, Shadow Fiend, Evocate, Mana Tide, Vampiric Touch etc and you're looking at a few vulnerable specs that starts to be vulnerable at 5th or 6th burn.

Awesome video! Do you plan to post full vods of your ptr run of tier 6 (whenever that may be)? Your full vods for SSC and TK were incredibly helpful at teaching my guild how to clear the raid. Love the content, keep it up! <3

TSW, thank you for this incredible guide, as always.
Just to be clear, at the Mother Shahraz spreadsheet, in the “lesser” shadow resistance example, you are saying 224 shadow res. At the top it says 244, and both 224 and 244 are listed at the “bottom example” of a Fatal Attraction + Sinful Beam. Can you confirm that you really mean 244 all the way through, and that is the number you have calculated with?
Best regards from Sorlax!

love the detail and the math here man. For the dps values you are giving here as they correspond to shadow resist values, I was wondering what length of fight this dps value is assuming?

Is this including data from the PTR? I'm seeing people saying they didn't need to be capped our near 300.

be interesting to see if theres some variation on the 'classic' versions we get

like we've seen with some p2 stuff vs pservers

I read recently that t6 is launching in its nerfed state? so SR won't be that important?

I have 2 questions, please:
#1 Will Flask of Chromatic Wonder be available in P3, and could it be viable for Shahraz?
#2 Shadowmoon Acolytes in Shattered Halls can give a (I think +100) SR buff for 1 hour. Can this buff be taken into Black Temple? Even if it could I suppose it would not stack with the +70 from a Priest, so it would be hassle for effectively +30 SR. But what is true here?

that raid positioning on Mother - does anybody knows if staying under elven statue (under it's leg) will stop you from flying into the sky on tbcc?

I genuinely believe we'll be getting sub 2 minute kills on these bosses. Azgalor/Kaz'rogal especially. The pace of Classic is completely different to private servers and of course the real tbc back in 2007, by week 5-6 we'll see absolute bare minimum resistance gear for Mother.

There is no point to have above 295 resistance... the cap for a boss, considered as level 73, is boss level times 5, or 365, anything above it is a waste unless there is a mechanic that reduces resistance, like solarian does.
