We've received a lot of questions from Doug Howard's video using his STIHL SR200 backpack sprayer to spray mosquito control.

Basically the question is "What number do you set the orange valve at the tip of the spray nozzle to get the same flow you have?"

To answer the question, I asked one of our chemical experts, Paul, what he recommends.

Stop by one of our stores for to pick up chemicals or power equipment, but mostly, you get answers to your questions from folks who actually know this stuff.

Paul knows his stuff. I should have been recording the first 20 minutes that he talked about all this :)

I've been using the Stihl SR450, using Bifen XTS for about 5 years, and you want to switch to the white flow controller, on the 0.8 setting to get a fine mist that the mosquitos can inhale into their spiracles. This rate is very effective, and the 4 gallon tank easily covers a half acre, including trees, shrubs, and lawn. I got that from a video on Youtube by a professional mosquito abatement service. I think the rate of 4 on the orange knob is overkill, and may not be as effective due to the large size of the dropletts.

On the older machines it doesn’t have a number gauge, is there a way to get one?

At the 4 flow rate how much coverage can I expect to get from a 1oz. to 1 gallon ratio?
