This is the game I call Castle, same difference. The version that I play has three wildcards, the 2, 5, and 10. The 2 can be played on any card, which then allows you to immediately go again and you could place any card you want on top of it. The 5 copies the card under it, so if someone places a king then a 5 would copy it and also become a king. The 10 would do the same and wipe out the deck, or as we say it "burns" the deck. Also, When four of kind is played in the deck, the deck burns. The 5 can also copy a 2 which allows you to go again, and placing a 5 on a three of a kind would burn it because it would technically be a four of a kind.

My variation has the same premise, except for a few things:

Each player is dealed 3 bottom cards face down, and at the beginning of the game they are also dealed 6 cards they can look at. When they have the 6 cards each player must put 3 (high or strategic) cards facing up on top of the bottom cards from before.

The game starts with the player who has the lowest card in their hand.

During the game, each player must either place a card greater than or equal to the card placed by the previous player

If one player cannot beat the card or doesn't have the same card (with a different suit) they must pick it up. Which adds more cards to their hand.

However, in my variation players are allowed to fill in cards. This is how it works, if their is a 4 of spades was somewhere in the middle of the playing field I could place a 4 of diamonds on top of that (in the middle). Same applies to any other card with different suits. NOTE: The 4 of spades was in the middle of the playing field, if someone wanted to fill in, they would also have to put a card that could beat the card that is on the top of the playing field currently.

Additionally, if there is 4 of the same card in the playing field (meaning all suits/symbols of that card)
the pile must be set to the side. Which means the playing field is cleared, and the player who put 4 of the same card is granted an extra turn to begin the new playing field.

10's can bomb the palying field and clear away the pile. EXCEPT, the person who cleared the playing field gets an extra turn, and could put any card in their hand after the playing field has been cleared.

Let's say people are placing to many high cards on the playing field, one person could put a 2 and restart the deck. However, in my variation, if someone's putting a 2 to start the playing field over, they have to put any card in their hand on top of the 2. EXAMPLE: If there are 3 kings on the playing field, and I have a 2 of diamonds, 3 of spades, and 3 of hearts. I could put the 2 of spades on top of the kings, then put the 3 of spades and 3 of hearts on top of the 2.

Also, if you have more than 1 of the same card you could put that on the playing field to beat the previous card put by another player.

Enjoy playing this style of palace!

towards the end of the game, why was the player able to place a KING on top of the 3? Doesn't the card have to be a 3 or 4?

I don’t exactly play like that. For example, if you put a 2 down, you have to hurry up and place another card down before the other players. And I also playing it differently because if you place a 5 down, the next player has to put down a card lower than 5. And lastly whenever I play the 3 cards you choose in the beginning, they are face down, that way the players won’t know your next play. And I either call it “Kings”, “Castle” or “Palace”. And I’m pressed because there are NO CARD
